I was taught a king guides his queen. And he protects her. And by holding her hand, you are telling her, as we are going up or down the stairs. I am your guide and your protector. You have nothing to fear.
@Imcmullan What you call Chivalry I call being a sucker. Why is it that men have to perform chivalrous acts towards women and not the other way round hmm? If I can sum up chivalry in one sentence it is this: "Men will act like dogs for their women to appease their laziness." Many women in Western Societies will desperately cling to outdated notions like "Chivalry" or "Tradition" to absolve themselves of responsibility. If women don't want to get of their lazy arses and be proactive and approach a bloke that they like. No problem they'll just say that believe in chivalry and expect the man to do all the work. If women don't want to pay for their share of dates because they are cheap and entitled freeloaders. Again no problem they'll just claim that it's "traditional" where the man pays. I know exactly what chivalry is or at least what women consider chivalry to be which is precisely why I reject it. I refuse to participate in this practice as I have dignity. Now I will however extend common courteously to everyone but I refuse to give women preferential treatment.
@AzzaBlue why do you look at being kind to your woman as a sign of weakness? You do k own that a relationship is about who can be the sweetest to one another, right? While a man may be chivalrous a woman can be too.. but in a feminine matter. Women like to be treated like delicate adored beings... someone who is cherished... actually both men n women like to feel adored and cherished- just expressed differently. It's not about absolving responsibility. You seem to be very bitter towards women. Perhaps, you should figure out the source of this anger... n get over it.
@Imcmullan It might seem like that I am bitter, but I can assure you that it is not the case. Perhaps I am a little bit jaded, but I am definitely not bitter. I believe that all relationships whether they be platonic, professional or romantic should be based on mutual give and take. At least from what I can gather, chivalry seems to be extremely one sided where the man has constantly prove his worth while the woman does what? Grace him with her presence? Now you might be one of those rare women that actually contributes towards a relationship, if so, then you are good in my books. However I can assure you that there are many women out there who behave exactly like how I've claimed and many men (especially on GaG) can attest to this. Most of time what us blokes hear from women is "me, me, me" or "You're not a real man unless you do x, y, z for women". And most of us blokes are tired of it. I know that not all women are like this, but a great deal are.
There is nothing wrong with being sweet to a date, but there is a fine line between being sweet and being a pushover. Dating for me (at least at the beginning) is like a pseudo type of interview where I am 'vetting' my dating prospect to determine if she'll be a good fit for my life. Now once that we've established that we are "exclusive" or "going steady" than I am more than happy to treat her like a queen, on the proviso that she treats me like a king. Does that make sense?
My approach to dating may not be very romantic but I consider it very practical.
I understand where you're coming from.. and I think in a nutshell , we're saying the same things. You'll treat her well provided she treats you well. This I can agree with.. but it doesn't make you weak simply bc you open a door for her. I like to feel like I'm being treated special. I was primarily raised by my dad and my 6 brothers so, im the definition of spoiled... on the flip side of things, I've always treated the one im with just as great.
I use an electric bike and would probably drive a motorcycle if I could be arsed to get the papers for it. So, no, wouldn't even come to mind. (Do have a license)

I open and close the door, help her with her seat at the table. It's the way I was brought up.
Nope. She isn't handicapped. Opening a door is easy stuff.
I think itโs a kind gesture. Shoot I do the same in return. 😌
Yup, I open every door for her. Also, hold her hand as we are walking down the stairs. And pull the chair out for her as well.
I dont care about the door/chair stuff but omg the handholding part made my eyes water ๐๐ญ too adorable

Lol.
@mehzmeh good thing and what am used to
Absolutely, and I open doors for strangers. Sometimes they say thank you, sometimes they call me names like sexist pig.
Tell them U want to FEEL my pimp hand?
No.
No key fob.
No key slot on her side.
I have to unlock my side and then hit the unlock button
But you're a BMW driver how could you not have
For my date, ... for friends, ... for strangers, ... and pretty much anyone within 20 steps of the door.
I love that chivalrous, gentlemanly act! It'd be very sweet if my date do that😊
I absolutely love it when he opens the door for me. He gets slightly offended if I open the door.
Chivalry is quite kind and he deserves a favour too💕
What's next? Should I burp them too? Should I wipe their arses as well? Women are adults not petulant children.
It's called chilvary... smh..

With this attitude, you are doomed to stay single for the rest of your life !
@Tema123 If being single for the rest of my life means that I get to keep my dignity intact then that's fine by me.

@Imcmullan Agreed. I am glad that we are on the same page.
"After all this years?"
"Always"
If you have hands and you're not disabled you can open your own door...
I've never ran into a date that waited in the car for me to open the door.
#abronxtale #workingmanisasucker #thedoortest
Great movie & before power locks I opened the car door for my date & she reached over just like in the movie.
@Static_In_The_Attic can't do that now with the autolock with the key fobs
I'm always treated like a lady. My door open, chair pull, etc. I love a gentleman.
Yes I do that's what gentleman do. Is that what you like your dates to do
I don't like it. Rather just get out myself ratehe than waiting for someone to open the door for me
Thatโs the test... If she gets offended that I open a door for her, then her feminazi arse is out of my life
I use an electric bike and would probably drive a motorcycle if I could be arsed to get the papers for it. So, no, wouldn't even come to mind. (Do have a license)
Yes, the wife, after thirty years, still open the door for her. She's a very special lady.
