He has low standards for you. Most women are in their prime between 17-23. Probably the best time to get a serious relationship because thats when they can attract the highest caliber of a man. doesn't sound like he gave you good dating advice by telling you you're doing well to be single. Probably so he doesn't feel guilty about not giving you the hard truth about what men want. Hard for some guys to be honest about it

Unlike men whose value could rise with age, with women, age defines fertility and their prime. Their "wall" is late 20s to early 30s. After that, the type of men they can attract, changes. Good men would pursue them less and less.

There are exceptions. Of course. But for the vast majority, this is the truth. It is not just the "looks" by the way. I would date a decent 24 year old over a hot 40 year old. Or 35 year old. It is how it is.
