Post Ice Skating Date Questions?

Hello,

I recently went on an ice skating date with a girl and it went pretty well. We grabbed lunch beforehand and she said she had a good time. My question is during our ice skating session, I only held her hands once (while I skated backwards and she skated forwards). We mostly just talked/laughed during the skate. Other than that, I didn't really hold her hand at all. I know I probably should've been more physical with her especially since she asked me to teach her how to skate a couple of days ago however, she ended up doing better then I thought.

Anyway, is it alright that I didn't hold her hand really except once?
Also, where should I go from here?

Well, if she had a good time, she'd probably be willing to go out with you again. I'm not much up on ice skating, so while I've heard that hand-holding is a notable part of it, I don't know how big of one it is. But on a first date, ESPECIALLY if it's something you're not too comfortable with (I'm not sure how good of a skater you are), you're probably okay being a little more cautious than you normally would; you're still getting to know each other, after all.

You're probably okay- if you ask her out again and she says yes, it likely went over well enough. Think about how you'd feel if it had come from the other direction- if SHE was the one who seemed to be holding back a little, would it be a serious problem for you?

I play ice hockey so I am a pretty good skater. Personally I am usually scared when it comes to holding hands. I don’t know what it is but I get nervous and I end up doing nothing. I am going to ask her out again since we still talk and she doesn’t seem like she is distancing herself from me. What do you guys think I should do? Something that maybe encourages us to hold hands/have physical contact between each other

If it were the other way around, I might be questioning why isn’t she holding my hand but It wouldn’t be like a deal breaker or anything that serious, but again I can skate so I don’t really need help and that was the same case with her. She was good so she really didn’t need help at all, maybe I should’ve taught her a thing or two like how to skate backwards or even stop. Then I could’ve helped her but I didn’t really think about doing that

Honestly sound like the date went well, don't obsess over a little things like that, worrying about expectations from the other person is what ruins a good date. Things like hand holding can't be quantified, just do it when it feels right, trying to force it will seem unnatural. Teaching someone to ice skate sounds like a great first date, plenty of opportunity to be close and laugh together and that is what is important. Enjoy your second date whatever you decide to do for it and stop obsessing about the hand holding, sounds like you're doing fine!

I guess it depends on which date you were. I personally wouldn’t hold hands with anyone who is not officially my boyfriend. But that’s just personal preference I guess 🙈

This was our first date. I just think if a girl is interested in you, she would probably want you to hold her hand especially during ice skating. I think it shows physically that I am interested in that person not just as friends.

It might be. It might also depend on where you come from and your culture. I know for sure it’s not so common to hold hands on the first date in my country. I think it’s the best for you to see from her body language. If she’s not pulling out, saying no to it and seems happy to hold hands, I think there is nothing bad in it
