If a guy and I broke things off because he moved away, now he’s back, when can I ask to be exclusive?

We were only dating casually (not exclusively b it sex was there) before for a few months because he had plans to move to another country for 7 months due to work obligations. I wanted more than he could give so we broke things off a couple months before he moved just to save the hurt.
Well. He was there for a week and then it fell through so now he’s back home. We haven’t yet seen each other. He needs to find a place to live and get his life in order and we’ve said then we’ll meet up again. I haven’t seen him for 3 months now. So, when we meet up again and let’s say it goes well... is it too much to want to be exclusive right away or am I jumping the gun? Should we take more time to date casually or is it totally normal to want to be exclusive since we already know each other somewhat?

You have an adult conversation. That's what mature adults do.
It helps if you decide ahead what YOU want, and you be clear about that. He will either respond in kind or he won't, you can't make it one way or another. You can only control YOU.

The push for exclusivity maybe premature. Instead of structuring it that way, consider what you'll do to EARN it. To make him only want you. Frankly, it seems like you tend to rush things, and try to put the cart before the horse.

Do you even have any idea how to get and keep a man? What exactly to bring to a relationship that would be considered high value? You need to be able to articulate this cuz a high-value guy will expect it.

I’ve never been in a serious relationship so I don’t know. I’ve always just focused on myself, so I’m financially stable and well put together. I do consider myself a catch (independently) but in a relationship... I don’t really know yet? I mean, I just want to be with someone who we can be our most genuine and best with. I’d like to have similar goals. I’ve always had no issue with sex and that seems to be my strong suit but I struggle opening up to others. Not sure what is considered high value in a relationship? I just know I’m high value by myself I guess.

If you've done the work, and you're 'put together' as you say, then you have what YOU need. Now you find a guy that's worthy of your adoration, and you make it a team effort. Someone worth sharing your life with.

So if this guy is worth it, and he's passionate for you, make sure he knows you want him. Cook him a nice meal, tell him he's the greatest thing in your life, and fuck his brains out. If that doesn't bind him to you then you chose wrong. If he falls in love with you he'll be exclusive to you - it's just natural. But you have to earn it, you have to compete, you have to beat out all the rest. Then you don't have to ask for exclusivity, it will be freely given.

You might be jumping the gun on this one. Give it some time and take it slowly. Rushing him as soon as he gets settled probably won't turn out the way you want it.
