Cuddling, spooning, pillow talk... All still part of sex no matter how casually it started. Even the friends with benefits scenarios generally support this.

If it's a hookup, you just need to go in with the understanding that it's temporary and not allow yourself to invest long-term emotions into it. Short-term emotions are fine, and just as good, temporarily.
