Is this a rubbish bio for a guy?

My nephew has this on dating sites and gets no matches.

Hi everyone. I am a funny guy. I am 24 years old. I am 183 cm tall and chubby. Looking here for anything, but would be happy if I met an honest, humble person. I am open minded and generally reserved, but I ama pretty honest person when you get to know me. I like reptiles, fashion and traveling.

He has recent pictures up correct? He doesn't need to re-emphasize being chubby in his bio.

Same goes with age. If there is also a form field for age.

Does he have a college degree? If he does he should mention that. Such as "I have a BS in Herpetology from Podunk university". He should also mention his career and realistic career goals. Not the lofty goals he's not actually, actively working towards.

"I am a funny guy", is not a phrase I like. It is too generic and broad. I'd look to expand on that. "I love a good Jerry Lewis movie and to crack dad jokes. Sour pusses, sticks in the mud and the easily offended, need not apply."

"I am" way too many sentences begin with this. This should not occur more than once in a paragraph. It makes for bland reading. These sentences could be broken down into a series of traits, separated by commas. Otherwise show some variety in the opening of each sentence.

Liking fashion really shouldn't be mentioned. His style should be seen in how he's dressed in his photos. If he's dressed sharp. They'll know he likes fashion and what type. Same goes if he's dressed poorly.

Travel, should have it's own more in depth listing. Also the type of traveler he is "foodie, antiquity sites, cultural, architectural, wilderness, boozer, &c". This should have it's own paragraph. "I visit many countries around the world. I love to see the buildings in city centers, visit the museums and explore ancient ruins in the countrysides. I'm seeking someone to traverse the globe with me on our vacations."

"Pretty honest" sounds like a liar. This should be more definitive. "Forthright" sounds better.

"Looking here for anything" translates to I have no standards and am desperate. Everything else said afterward about what he wants is meaningless. He should be more assertive in what characteristics he is looking for. Just not some big laundry list. Also under his interests and characteristics. He can cover some or most of what he's looking for in an off-handed manner. As I illustrated in some of the examples. That way it isn't all grouped into a list.

At any rate. He just needs to sell himself in a more interesting manner. Plus show he feels he has value and knows what he wants. He needs to sound confident and more assertive in what he wants.

His bio is fine, though quite short. More importantly, does he share photos of himself, on his profile? The completely honest truth here, is that a man's appearance is more important to women on dating sites, than the other way around. Men have to stand out, as they typically greatly outnumber women on any dating app. To stand out, you can't just simply have a tiny bio. Women also know, since they receive far more likes, than men, and they have less competition than men have with other men, women know they have all the power on dating apps... so they can afford to raise their standards absurdly high.

Your nephew is unfortunately going to have to put a lot of effort into his profile, if he wants any results, not just in his bio. If he has any hobbies, he should share photos of himself doing those hobbies. His height is attractive for most women, so he's got that going for him, which is awesome. In all honesty though, online dating is mostly only successful for women, and the best looking guys. He may be attractive, but he'll almost certainly have a better chance, with trying to date in person. Good luck to him. 🤘😎

truly awful. For a start "funny" makes it sound like people laugh at him like a clown. Replace with "sense of humour". Looking for anything sound needy and desperate, no girl wants to feel she falls into the "anything will do" box. Mentioning "honest" twice is a big red flag, is he going to keep a close eye on us in case we steal something?
And no straight guy has fashion as a hobby.

"Dating apps" aren't for dating. They're for hookups - more specifically, they're for the top 10% of men to hook up with the top 60-70% of women. Everyone else is just wasting their time, and anyone hoping for an actual relationship is delusional. That's just not how "dating apps" are actually used.

If he wants to meet women, he needs to go outside, find places where single women are in his town, and meet them IN PERSON. He has zero chances on a "dating app."

Absolute rubbish. At best it says very little about him, at worst it is boring.

If funny he should demonstrate that, not make the claim.
He doesn't need to comment on his appearance they should see that in the photos.
And ultimately there just isn't anything particularly interesting. Read it yourself. Are you feeling a desire to engage in any form of conversation because of it? If you're still neutral it failed. Heck I have forgotten what it said by now.

Thing is, unless you're a stunningly good looking dude you need to have and display a personality. This bio is bland and says nothing about him. If he wrote that he is an arrogant prick who only sometimes answers Jessie on gag, that'd work better. Of course it is mostly looks at the end of the day but this type of bio probably makes him lose all the maybes.

All I did was took what he wrote and worded it different I omitted a few things because it should be elsewhere in the dating profile like how tall he is and I would just leave the reptile thing out for the moment I don't think that's really important until way later once the guy wants like a you know an alligator house or something tell him maybe give my take on what he has just just have to try that

It looks like a introduction on stage or symposium. Instead of everyone just a simple hello would be good it makes the people seeing it feel like a personal message.

Awful. Girls aren't as concerned with physique nearly as much as guys.

I'd advise your nephew to add pictures of him doing his favorite and coolest things in life. Show people your life. Don't just tell them.

He should use the website photofeeler to get a broad swath of opi ions on his photos.

Also he needs to talk himself up a bit. If he's an award winning reptile researcher, mention it in a non-bragging way. There are ways to show that you're cool and high-achieving without bragging, you know?

Also, he needs to be more specific about what he wants and doesn't want. "I'm looking for anybody" or using very general terms for what he wants is desperate on his part and makes that desperation obvious to others. He needs to sit down and really consider what he wants and doesn't want.

He also needs something in that first like to catch people's attention. Something interesting or funny. A boring or matter-of-fact first line is a big no-no

It's an honest bio, which is good. However, it probably won't get many matches... it contains some less-than-positive things. I suggest making it more positive, in particular:
1. Get rid of the word chubby. Either delete it or replace it with something like "a few extra pounds"
2. Be more specific in the second sentence. "I'm looking for an honest, humble woman"

Let's be honest it doesn't matter what a guy puts on his bio because no matter what he says it won't matter. If he puts something basic then people will say he is not trying if he puts more into it people will say he's doing too much, there is no winning in dating bios

Yes, it’s boring AF. If he’s a funny guy, he should make the effort to write an amusing and interesting profile. I did and it worked very well for me.

He should drop “chubby”, then get his ass moving and drop the weight.

rubbish. he needs to talk about things girls might have in common. he's not looking for a buddy. he's trying to attract a girl. he needs to lead with his best foot forward. we all have flaws and if he's chubby girls will see that in his profile pic. but he needs to portray that in spite of his flaws he is confident and going some place, then he might get a girl to follow. as for his profile pic, he needs to look as good as possible. smile, be someplace interesting.
