Sure! It's really cute seeing couples out in public kissing each other, it's just something that really connects two people intimately that's hard to compare to, other than sex of course. But in terms of showing basic loving affection it does the job quite well.

Indeed, while I have never been kissed by anyone other than family, I know that the way I would feel affection conveyed most from someone who is not family is admittedly dependent on whether it is platonic or romantic, as such I would choose either hugs or kissing.

physical contact is something that people want for showing affection to each other and comfort, but on the relationship side of things, if it was only ever an interaction of the full bodies embracing, the emotional effect of that activity would become less like affection and more like habit perhaps?

That is why if I had a relationship or got a opportunity to be intimate with someone, I would kiss them, I feel that a gentle display of affection shows you value them as a person and don't just want to indulge in their body.

Of course sex can be a very sweet thing to imagine, if I imagine the right scenario it could even be cute, in a situation where the two have made it clear how in love they are with each other but now they want to learn about the body of each other, feel and see anything on their body, scars, hair, prosthetics etc.

Curiosity about the body of someone you love is understandable and I imagine it can be really cute if sex was done with the reason of learning about each other even more and taking an interest in the full body of each other.

I'll give one example of a super romantic kiss.
I asked a lady out and we met at a restaurant near her house. We got along really well on the date and I walked her the short distance back to where she lived. On the porch, she unlocked her door then turned, stepped toward me (she was one step up), put her hands on top of my shoulders (I'm 6'2" and she was 5'2"), rose up on her tip toes, tilted her face up to mine, and gave me a kiss on the lips. There was something about her lips and the way she kissed me that literally made my head swirl.
After that, we continued dating and wound up virtually living with each other for over a years. God I loved that lady and still do. I'll never forget her.
