Is it cruel to lead someone on and then reject them?

I kinda feel bad for rejecting this guy because It did seem I lead him on by checking him, flirting and ignoring him. He's a nice guy but I don't feel that romantic connection but he does look pretty good so I rejected him before we could do anything. He unfollowed me and I do feel bad and said sorry. To be honest, I'm a bit immature and confused when it comes to relationships and he's different from any other guy but I just cruelly rejected him without no further contact. Did I do the right thing?

It depends what kind of guy he is. Maybe he just brushed it off and nothing changed, maybe he went home and you now messed him up mentally because you lead him on so now he is wondering what he did wrong when he did nothing wrong it was all you. To answer your question yes it’s cruel but it’s your job to let that person down easy.
