In person. Online is like shopping for someone with exactly what you want and vise versa—but in reality we all come with flaws. Meeting someone organically out and about would just work better for me

+1 yMy friends tell me they met their spouse when they were not looking for her and this is what I hear over and over when I read websites or chat rooms or watch videos online. I know guys who date 300 girls cause they want a girlfriend but have disabilities they wait til the date to tell her about, and when they go cherry picking with no intention of marriage, they discover their future wife - probably during the 5% of their free time that they are not seeking a wife or partner.
00 Reply 1.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. So for me I have had it work out both ways, but when I was meeting women in real life I was much younger and the online dating game wasn't in full swing yet. After you get to a certain age in life it gets harder to meet available women, because most the women you come into contact with at my age are married or co-works, or single and feed up with guys constantly hitting on them. So it get tough to talk with a women, when they feel on the defensive all the time.
So for me I figured out around 42 that you got to go where the single ladies are which is online. Yup, when you go on line and find a women you know she available to you and on some level is seeking a guy... because if she wasn't then she would not be on the site with a profile build and responding to guys. So when I see a women in real life these days she just seems unavailable to me, because when I go online those ladies are actually advertising their level of availability. Am the women on line are less guarded because they have more control over what guys they want to respond or approach themselves.
Now online dating is not easy it takes a lot of time, trail and error... you have to put the time into it to in order to do it right and get good at it. Which means you got to be willing to make the mistakes and grow from them. But I met my current SO online and she's amazing, and I never would met her if not online.14 Reply- +1 y
@Pinay_ako I know online dating gets a bad rap and its not for everyone. Even though I was very successful at it, by successful I mean I had 16 dates with 14 different women in 4 month time frame... and by no means would want any one to think it was easy. I was very dedicated to the process, and yes I meet with rejection more than once... but I was not discouraged by that. Rejection is just a ingrained part of the dating process, no way around it. Lets be honest, things don't work out most the time, and it not really any ones fault. If you take it seriously then you understand that and its not something to get upset about. But it does work if you make it work.

+1 yI met @lightbulb27 ❤️😘 here 6 years ago. We just got married Feb. after dating LD. It was hard apart, but we are together and we are very happy together.
I met my ex husband on match years ago and we have two great kids.
we are all in a very good place. I can’t ask for more. I am very lucky.22 Reply- +1 y
Agree, I'm really lucky to have found the most amazing woman! We are living the life!!
+1 yI met quite a few special people but... with special circumstances... both in real life and online (mostly online)...
Since I wanna travel, I would purposely prefer to meet such a person online. People who don't date online, find it hard to transition to chats, virtual meetings (video chats), thus the relationship will go to shit until we can meet again... and again... ... in person... I just like regular communication...
sometimes two people in the same city even can only meet twice a month... I remembered a boyfriend who with video call me from work (he was there A LOT).11 Reply- +1 y
Not from on online dating sites.. Only One boyfriend was from online dating...
+1 yHonestly as sad as it is I believe it almost exclusively depends on your gender. If you're a woman I would say dating apps, if you're a man then real life interactions. Due to male and female biology women will always get 200x more "matches" across the board. This has to do with the "loss potential" of engaging with someone, for women it's a potential 10 month health hurdle and 18 years of raising a child, for men there is little to no reprocussions so it heavily reduces the risk. If you're a man, due to the scales being heavily tipped on the female side unless you're extremely attractive and fit the often very distinct traits they're looking for you probably won't even get a date. I've found women that probably would have quickly swiped left on me on an app will at least give me the time of day in person because there's a level of charisma that no one can accurately display online.

+1 yProbably friends setting me up. I have three friends who like to play matchmaker. They know I'm not looking for anyone but they do it anyway, probably because the person they are trying to set me up with is looking.
The last one was just two days ago. It was a brief meeting but I actually liked her and wouldn't mind going out with her - except for one big problem - she had very young children. At my age there can't be any future in that. I can't take on a responsibility like that, I just can't.10 Reply 2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. Good question. Think it has become harder over time. I'd say in real life most likely, as even with video, there aren't the same non verbal queues that occur in real life.
One person recently described locking eyes with a girl they fancied at a club. I guess they were looking at each other and occasionally both looked at the same time. Not going to happen like that online.
While you know nothing about someone you just met, it does seem we intuit a fair bit whether they are nice/friendly/polite/fun etc.
On the other hand bars/clubs are now about the only places you will meet some one at. OK you have getting drunk in common. That's a good start :(11 Reply- +1 y
Aside from a common liking of getting drunk I could of elaborated a little more as "a comon liking of getting drunk and having sex in the car park over the bonnet of a totally nonconsensual car". With the last three words the same.
Why aren't we more concerned with non consensual cars? don't they have rights?
A while ago, I'd say that I'm more likely to meet her in an environment where we're forced to meet each other on a daily basis, like it happened before in school and in the colleges I tried. Worked well for the last times. My last prospect and probably the most perfect girl I met and almost dated I met on Reddit, of all places, so I don't even know anymore.
10 ReplyIn real life.
Dating sites are mostly used by superficial people in my opinion. The only time I've come across women who were interested in me was in person; if I was in better position I could have turned one of these opportunities into something special.10 Reply
+1 ydefinitely offline. G@G users can be immature (not that people offline can't be) but the odds of your meeting someone "SPECIAL" virtually is a lot less compared to real life. On here you can be anything and pretend to be anyone you want to be and you will not get judged or questioned for it. In real life it's different, there are CONSEQUENCES to your actions usually. And sadly, there are a lot of people who don't understand that part lol.
10 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. I have no idea. I meet lots of people IRL, but the thing is that I work in education and the majority of women in education have liberal morals which makes them totally incompatible with me. I don't even want to talk with them any more than what is necessary at work so I certainly wouldn't be interested in them romantically.
10 ReplyI think it can be anywhere, at any time regardless. You may never meet them period. They say there's someone out there for everyone, I agree, many even possibly, but the world is a huge place, depending on circumstances and lifestyle, you may NEVER met them. Or they'll be taken already, etc.

+1 yI definitely expect to meet my significant other in person. I feel like online is a waste of time for the most part. Both of my long term relationships were from meeting in person and conversing. Online always ends up in ghosting of some kind.

+1 yAs if people don’t lie enough face-to-face, on line is worse. If people would be brutally honest, on line would work better, because you could weed out incompatibility faster. If one person wants five kids and the other hates children, it would be better to find this out before the first date and not during the honeymoon.
10 Reply In real life. I wouldn't be against meeting someone online if we clicked well enough but not something I'd pursue. I'm at a disadvantage without charm, body language, eye contact & if I REALLY like a girl small discreet touches (not dirty). If she doesn't respond to touch or goes rigid I back off.
