I mean if they already like you so much before they really know you ( enough dates / start being together ) .. That means they like the idea of you.. Not really you.. But actually the picture of you they've already created in their mind.. And if it turned out to be not what they fully imagined.. well, You know the story... It gets so toxic...

Bingo.. Thought through well BUT things you should investigate: codependent and passives-agressive. In some cases the image is engraved in their head and will never change despite occurrences. I have Family like that…. Best Man-Baby Steps probably 🤷🏻‍♂️
