Well, just like for most questions, the answer is “it depends”…In this case, it depends on the girl (because “everyone’s different”), and the words you choose to compliment her.

Firstly, most everyone likes compliments, but some don’t; but “as a rule” a guy SHOULD compliment a girl when going on a date with her (and: “the sooner [on the date] the better”).

However, certainly a guy should STAY AWAY FROM a compliment like this: “Hey, you put in a lot of effort on your physical appearance and you turned out nice” (that “compliment” would usually NOT go over well—and would be taken like it took SO MUCH effort to make her end up looking good).

But, a compliment like this would “make her day” and “set a good tone” for the rest of your date with her…

“Hi, you look so great! I love how you did your hair & nails, and that’s such a pretty dress.”

That's a tricky one.

I would try to find a nice enough way to make her know that I noticed her effort.

As my sample picture indicates, I might not be too eager to see it again. But who knows - perhaps a second meeting may help; provided, that IN her head there is as much as ON it :)

If I put in the effort he better say something about it when we go on a date if a guy looks good I'd always say something about its being kind it's not hard

people like for their effort to be acknowledged. especially when that effort was done for the occasion.

at least a simple "i like your hair" is enough

I mean it’s a good first inpression to get off on the right foot. U just tell girls what they want to hear. To make them happy. Even if they say be honest. But after 2nd or 3rd when u get to know each other a bit more then u can be a bit more honest
