When you first start dating someone, how do you check to see if they are not married?

You can ask, but they can lie.

Do you just trust them no matter what?

I was the other woman before when I really thought he was single and trusted him.

Now I'm not sure if there are places online to look that up or not, I am wondering if anyone else has ever been in this situation where you thought someone was single and found out many months later that you were the side piece, after wasting a lot of time on him and now having a broken heart.

it can be tricky , but i think married men usually very confident when approaching women , they also dont get bothered by rejection at all , they also know exactly what to do to impress woman , because , he lives with his wife which make him know woman (his wife) better than men who are actually single

they dont get bothered by rejection because they have nothing to lose, so what if he approached a woman and get rejected , he still have his wife at home

conclusion , if u met new guy , and he did really good first impression , to get too excited too quickly , take your time to observe him more

That is a good point, but some single guys are confident to. I know divorce records are public record here, but marriages seem to be private so no way to actually check that stuff out.

I only found out when this other woman came to me and said she was his wife and we confronted him together. Had she not found out about me, I'd probably still be wasting time with him.

Well first, give him the benefit of the doubt until you know otherwise (don't bring the past into something new), but it's also understandable you want to protect yourself as best you can. Social media. If you can't find anything there, then just give it time and take your time dating and getting to know him. It'll come out eventually in some way if he is. Just remember to keep your head on the ground. Like with anything else, if something doesn't seem right or is questionable, don't ignore it, as many people tend to do early on.

I usually give them the benefit of the doubt until I'm ready to make a commitment then by then it's easier to tell
