Is Tinder only a hook up app or a match can potentially lead to something more serious?

I will be more specific. My ex broke up with me because he told me that he found on tinder the love of his love. I do not care about that asshole any more. I am just curious because I was opposed to those kind of apps. Are they more hook up apps or dating apps?

Tinder is all you can eat buffet for women and a thrift store for men.

Meaning both can find all kinds of things on there, hookups, sex friends, casual dating, serious dating, relationships, marriage.

You hear tinder stories that lead to any of those outcomes

Because at the end of the day humans are individuals and once you meet a person regardless if through an app or on the streets or in yoga class that person and you will have a specific relationship together.

They're dating apps, be they for hookups or relationships. My last two long-term relationships were from Tinder. Each lasted over two years. This doesn't mean that I didn't also find girls who were only looking for hookups- including a recent one who had just gotten out of a relationship), but they're really for anyone interested in dating/ interacting with the opposite sex.

Honestly everyone’s opinion and/or experience is different. Like personally I consider it a hookup app and almost everyone I know has no real success on there when it comes to finding a boyfriend/girlfriend and get played. On the other hand, my family member married someone he met on tinder, they’ve been together since 2016. I also know a woman who’s been in a long term relationship with a man she met through there.

If your boyfriend was looking while dating you he was an asshole and he definitely won't find the love of his life there.
But if you make it clear that you want a serious relationship in your profile and avoid hookups annnnd go through a couple of bad dates, you can definitely find someone and have a a good relationship

People meet in tinder for different reasons. Not everyone uses it to hookup for sex.
