Western Society is all about "throw away" culture. Old car, throw it away. Phone that functions but has a cracked screen, throw it away. Etc. So many in Western Society run for the newest phone or newest car though there's minimal difference between this and the year-old phone or vehicle that they are "throwing away".

And this is also with relationships.

Less & less people put effort in relationships as they are raised when something becomes difficult or requires work "throw it away" instead working on it. Reflects in jobs... more & more 20-30 year olds instead of toughing it out at work run away crying.

So are more people hooking up?

Yes more and more people that, to be extremely blunt, "can't make it in life" are hooking up. But in many ways it's benefical, it removes them from the serious dating pool.

I sadly think there are more people hooking up. I imagine it as 50% hooking up, 30% dating, 20% married. I don't know why but thats just what i imagine

Dating verse hooking up depends both on one's source of information and the definition (s) of Dating.

People will lie to cope on both ends whether it is casual sex, friends with benefits or "hangout" going the other way. If one goes by social media then everyone is hooking up to maintain status with the perceivable trend towards that relationship. Making it worse, the immature believe that friends with benefits is really a relationship of the dating type and will blossom into such as someone is "catching feelings".

Everyone that I know are traditional dating and half are not sexually active.

Most people who are dating "advertise" that fact, but people hooking up are far less likely to publicly announce that they are fucking whatever slut jumps into their bed. So I am now really suffciently aware of the numbers to make that comparison. Intuitively, if we limt the question to people over age 21, I think more people are dating than hooking up.

more people hooking up. thing is many call it dating still but in the end it is just another hook up. sorry folks but if younreach 5 or more (probably less than 5) in a month, slept with them and try calling it "dating" then you are just telling yourself lies. because if you really were dating, thrre would be some emotional attachment to each and, on average, it takes multiple weeks to recover from that. taking into consideration there are 4 weeks per month (most run into part of a 5th week) then there is no way to actually recover to actually date that many people in any month. so that would mean no emotional attachment involved leaving it as just another hook up.

I feel more people are hooking up because it's easier to get off with someone new than maintaining a relationship with someone for a long period of time, all the while being accepting of their flaws or their personality.

I think people are trying to hook up more. Whether it's actually happening is another matter. I think a lot of guys are trying to get laid and a lot of gals are just indulging thier fantasies.

I don't think most people really want to do what it takes to have real relationship with anyone. And that's even if the chose the best person for them, which typically they don't.
