Why does this girl say she’s not ready for a relationship yet flirts with me?

I’ve known her about 2 years, I’ve tried to ask her on a date on multiple occasions but she says she is not ready for a relationship or else she’d say yes but yet dated some other guys in between me asking her out, she continues to say she likes me and that she has a crush on me and we even spent an entire day on the phone just talking and flirting etc, things couples would do. But still she says she is not ready for a relationship and needs to focus on her. I usually know what this means but I don’t want to cross any boundaries. If I ask her what’s going on I don’t want to seem pushy but also refuse to step over any boundaries. What should I do? Or is there something I’m not seeing (besides the true meaning of I’m not ready for a relationship)

Well, one possible answer to this is that she truly is not ready or prepared to be in a relationship but does like you. There is sometimes a difference between what we want and what is realistic at that point. Perhaps she does really have a crush and likes you but for whatever reason knows she cannot commit to a relationship right now.

Relationships are hard work. At least, they should require a good amount of effort to sustain. Maybe that is the part that she just knows she cannot do, no matter her feelings for you.

If that is what is happening, she likely has the mindset that she cannot pour her heart into the relationship and that it would not be fair to you if she half assed it. This could be because of school, something going on with family, work, etc.

This is just one possible reason why and the only logical one that I can think of. It could be something totally different but this makes the most sense to me.

Women are good and fucking with a guys mind and not knowing on a conscious level that they are doing anything wrong. I would not reward that behavior.
