I don’t think dating apps will ever work for me. Does anyone else feel the same?

I get that they have worked for some people but I put that down to sheer luck. Here’s why…

When swiping right, you’re mainly basing it on their looks and if you find them attractive. Occasionally you might be drawn to what they write in their bio or whatever but 95% of the time it’s dependent on attractiveness.

So even when I swipe right on a guy I find attractive and we match, when we start talking I end up not being interested in him after all, or I get bored and I go back to swiping and it’s a never ending cycle.

I agree -would rather meet someone in person

Since dating sites are the most common way of people finding their long term partners now, they obviously work for most people. If it is easier for you to blame the sites and that makes you feel good, go for it. . . but that doesn't solve your problem. You may be using the wrong sites. You may have some problems with the things you have posted in your profile. You may have unrealistic expectations of how you will feel early in the process.

I met a lady online in 2015 and I wasn't immediately thrilled but agreed to meet her for dinner. The first date was better than I had anticipated and the second date was even better. We dated for two years before we broke up. We weren't compatible in the long run but she is a good person and I'm glad I met her.

I am currently engaged to a woman I met online. My expectations weren't very high but the relationship developed and we will be getting married in April.

If you are expecting instant love or infatuation, you need to look inward and examine your excessive need for an instant relationship instead of blaming the dating sites.

Apps are not great for getting to know people, you’ll never get a true sense of a person over text. If you’re looking for connection go out to events or find groups that enjoy the same hobbies as you. You have a better chance connecting with people authentically off of a screen than on.

Honestly, dating apps are meant to keep you single. I would love to meet people in person but it’s so difficult to know where to start. Hell I’m literally considering getting a part time job Ontop of my full time job now so I can work with people.

If they never work out for you, try changing your tactics. Try meeting up or be more engaging in conversation.
