Was getting a tattoo and my boyfriend saw a girl he used to sleep with, went to the “bathroom” and came out an hugged her?

Was getting my chest done and my boyfriend said he had to use the bathroom, left for a few minutes and when I looked back up he was hugging a girl he’s had intercourse with beforehand who he hasn’t seen in a while i’m guessing? the people i was with all looked at me for my reaction, including the tattoo artist saying he hugged her for a long time and was talking about her nails and tattoo. what do i do? this guy lives with me and he wants me to give him the benefit of the doubt but, i don’t know if i’m overreacting or if my intuition is in the right place.

I appreciate this comment. I’m not a “jealous” or “overbearing” type but it really bewildered me on what I should do about it because many of my girl friends that were there watching me get tattooed wanted me to like be aggressive towards him and that’s not in my character so I thought coming here would be more appropriate. But I trust him, it’s just a new relationship and he has since accepted responsibility and apologized for it along with reassuring me that it was purely a friendly gesture which I assumed, but he saw how it looked and the context of it. It was just a hug and it is still ok for him to be friends with an ex as long as he does not end up having sex or fooling around with her. How do you know he had sex with her? Is the sex with him ok?
