So my boyfriend (18m) and I (17f) have been together for 3 ish months though we've kept things kind of quiet from some of our friends because of meeting up during quarantine. We have the same group of friends from school who knew we were hooking up before quarantine, but not all of them knew we were officially together. Yesterday we had a small get together for the first time since quarantine at a friends yard. My boyfriend has a friend named Zoe who I sort of know, and the get together was the first time they saw each other since quarantine. When she arrived she ran up to my boyfriend and did the thing where you jump and wrap your legs around the person while hugging them, and by boyfriend hugged her and didn't do anything to stop her. Later we told our friends we'd been dating and Zoe didn't know, I don't know if she still would have hugged him like that in front of me if she did. I haven't said anything to my boyfriend yet but I'm wondering if I'm overreacting by thinking he shouldn't be lifting up other girls and hugging them like that. I'm fine with him hugging his female friends but this seemed a lot more intimate. Am I just jealous or is it not okay for my boyfriend to do that with another girl?

I remember a similar situation to yours. About a year ago, we had to get into dancing groups and it involved holding hands, arm linking, stuff like that (scottish themed maybe?). Anyway, there was a group of girls who needed one more person and our group was in excess of one person. Nobody volunteered, so I went for it out of politeness.

After the dance, I went back to my friends and in front of our friends, my girlfriend... basically told me off. It's funny thinking back on it. Suffice to say, I wouldn't do it again. So while I do think you could've talked to him about it when it was just the two of you, I reckon that if he cares about your feelings and likes you, I reckon he won't do it again. I get what you're saying but as a guy I don't think it's a big deal for a few reasons. From what you explained, Zoe basically initiated the hug and it would've been awkward for your boyfriend to move away from it or whatever. Plus she didn't know y'all are *together* like you said. If he didn't seem like it was awkward, then I'd move on and not worry about it at all. (if he did react awkwardly that could be a sign of guilt or something that you might question... but sounds like that's not an issue cuz it didn't happen like that, right?)

I think being honest with him in a cool and calm manner will be the right thing to do since it clearly brothers you, at least to free your mind. If you don't, he will see what he did as okay so it might happen again and when it does and you say you don't like it, he would use your keeping quiet the first time against you plus remember, if it was you who hugged a guy like that, he would object.

It isn't anything yet. And if you confront him about it, it will only make you look jealous and controlling.
I would let it go, but if it continues now that it's out that you guys are together THEN it's an issue and you can bring it up if you still think there is something going on.
