My boyfriend hugged another girl from behind while next to me?

We were in a crowd coming out of an amphitheatre. This girl was next to me in the aisle between the seats and my boyfriend was behind us. All of a sudden he hugs her. It lasted for a second, it was one of those oh- I- just- love- having- you- around type of hugs. She's a friend of his, but they're not that close. I felt like sh*t in that moment because my boyfriend felt the need to hug someone, I'm standing right there and he hugs someone else. Am I reading too much into this?

If it bothered you, tell him so. Don't get all angry and emotional and make a lot of drama about it. Just let him know that it made you unhappy. If it's something he does all the time, then be clear that it 'a a deal breaker with you. Just let him know what you will and won't tolerate, but stay in control of your emotions when you do. No matter how he responds, resolve to handle it with grace and dignity.

I would be a little upset with this.
However, you can't really confront him. Just leave it and try to forget about it, but if it happens again I would maybe ask him about it... like "what does a hug mean to you". Try not to phrase it as an attack, more as curiosity.

I think even that he's with you that girl might be his good friend, and a hug doesn't really mean anything. My friend hugs me like that or the full front big hug and he's with a girl, does that mean he's not with her? I don't think so.
