A guy suggested going for drinks for a date and we were talking about espresso martinis and I said “I’d be energetic and slurring my words” to which he replied “not an unappealing idea”.

why would a mind like the idea of that? I thought slurring words was bad?

"Slurring words" implies that you are sufficiently intoxicated to also have relaxed your inhibitions, and "energetic" means you would not be a starfish but an active participant in the debauchery he has planned.

Girls are more receptive to being seduced when they are tipsy. There is a limit, however, where it crosses into rape territory, but the line between is thick and blurry. In general, it is a tiny bit rapey to declare a preference for women who have had enough to slur their words. But such things are solidly in that blurry area.

Alcohol is a depressant. It relaxes people. It also impairs judgement. In moderation, both of those things can be good. Especially on an early date.

A martini is a strong drink. Unless you've had them before, limit yourself to only one. If you do that, you'll be in control, more at ease and a bit more chatty. None of those are bad things.
