Am I a "gold digger"?

Anonymous
So I was in a situationship with this guy for a year and half. His base salary was $1000 per day & my monthly salary was equivalent to $300(It's a lot in my country). He was an expat living in Africa (where I'm from). He was a good guy, communicated well and listened, and understood me. At some point last year, work really got hard for me, and I had anxiety. He suggested leaving work for a while and doing something I enjoyed, and I wanted to travel, so I spent 10 months traveling to new countries, which he planned & paid for. Then I started uni in Europe (London), which he paid for my year's tuition, literally a day after we ended things & decided to be friends. My friend says I'm a gold digger for letting him pay for stuff & I'm hurt she thinks of me like that. Never have I ever asked this man for any kind of material stuff or designer bags. The most expensive material thing I've gotten with his money is my laptop which costed $500. And he's the one who gave it to me when my old one broke. I've seen this man at his lowest , emotionally and mentally and he's seen me at my lowest too so I don't understand how I can possibly be a gold digger. Our first date was in a museum and wasn't anything fancy. I liked him cause he communicated well and understood me as a person and so did I.
