Am I a "gold digger"?

No, he’s just generous.
There was no deceit.
Gold diggers deceive and that’s what makes them gold diggers.
Gold diggers make up lies to get money and lie about loving their boyfriend to get money out of him.
Gold diggers USE men for their money, in a deceitful way.
You were upfront the whole time. You did not lie. You did not deceive. He just helped you out financially, knowing full-well everything that’s going on.
You’re also not a sugar baby either, since you aren’t exchanging sexual favors or romance for money. (The difference between a sugar baby and a gold digger is that sugar babies are upfront about the transactional arrangement — no deceit, just business.)
So you’re neither a gold digger or a sugar baby. You’re just receiving help from a generous friend.
I don't think so but I can see how some might. I think the key is you didn't ask (seemingly he volunteered it) you ever see the movie Spanglish? These funds are easier to come by for him then you and if he doesn't mind it then why should anyone? It's his money! But this is why people tend to date thier same education and income level. Because it's hard to maintain an equal relationships when both parties are not equal.
As long as you're not asking, he's volunteering what he can afford to. And as long as he's not holding it over you then it's fine.
Nope , he went out of his way to provide that for you and that was his decision.
