Trending & News Is it the average standard? No. Do people often say something is "weird" because whatever the average standard is, is considered "normal"? Yes.
I'm 46, my girlfriend is 23. We're totally happy and nothing seems weird to us other than the acknowledgement it's not the typical age gap people have in a relationship. I'm assuming majority of people date within 0-5 years of their own age, and then maybe half of the rest are within 5-10 years, then the last group would be the minority with 10+ years age gap. Plenty of people do it and have a fine time.
You'll probably see plenty of answers on here about how most of time these relationships don't work out. News flash: most of the time MOST relationships don't work out, period. regardless of age, gender, or whatever other parameters you put on them.

With an age gap of 24 years, you'll be in a relationship outlier. But if you're happy, that's what matters.
I'm actually in an age gap relationship with a man 15 years younger. If you'd told me before not only that I'd date a guy so much younger than me, but that we'd be incredibly compatible and that it would be by far the best relationship of my life I'd laugh and tell you you're crazy. However, both things are absolutely true. Consequently, I 100% know that a relationship with a major age gap can still be an amazing, loving, fulfilling, and wonderful relationship that's not at all weird
Will some people think it's weird and judge? Absolutely. For the first part of our relationship the judgment really bothered me. However, I came to understand that their judgement said a whole lot more about their ignorance than about me, my boyfriend, or our relationship. When I learned that the judgement stopped bothryojg me. In fact, sometimes it can be fun. When there's someone or a group of people that I can tell are judging us for our relationship I'll often grab my boyfriend's ass, push him super close, and give him a long/juicy/sexy kiss. Sometimes we'll just keep making out right in front of them. Their shocked, bewildered, and grossed out looks are priceless-ly hilarious!
Yes it is weird. However if the younger party is at least in their mid to late twenties with someone a lot older I don’t actually see an issue with it. At that point they’re more than old enough to do whatever they want and be able to make educated decisions. If it was a twenty year old with a 44yr old it would be creepy and I would really question the older party’s motives in that. When you’re that young you are still pretty vulnerable
It is certainly unusual and SOME people will say that it is weird. Age difference relationships can work but you certainly have a few more obstacles in your path.
My fiancee is 9 years younger than me. If I was 27 and she was 18, that would be weird because of the mismatch in maturity levels. As you get older, that difference reduces. I am 68 (almost 69) and she just turned 60; not weird at all.

Very weird, yeah. But don't mind me, I think older women being with younger men is super hot.
I dated someone closer to that age and I liked him a lot. I don’t think it would be that weird. And even if it was, who cares?
It is weird meaning it is unusual and not typical, but, if weird means bad or wrong, I do not think that is automatically true, it depends on the people, 50 is older than 26 however 26 is an adult so to me, if the two of them are happy, that is the main thing. JMO!
It's a bit out of the norm yeah. Weird? Depends on who you ask. If it works for them there's nothing weird about it and that's their business. But I will say this. Relationships with age gaps larger than 10 years. are seldom successful longterm. Most probably just THINK they're compatible. Time usually proves they are not.
Increasingly girls seem to like, and society seems to normalize, sugar daddies. Although, query whether it’s new? Older, successful, wealthy guys have always been able to pull (or perhaps it’s buy?) fertile, pretty young things. Something to look forward too, I guess… 🤔😉😂
That's almost 1/4 century. You should probably narrow the age gap.
What about 26 and 48?
Is there a reason you don't want someone your own age?
I like older yum
Go for what you like.
a quarter is only 1/4
Well , my girlfriend is 29 , the one previous was 40 , but looked dam 25 , I'm 62 years , 63 in January , its how it rolls sometimes , I'd say don't overthink it.
It is weird, doesn't mean it is wrong though. You love who you love don't let societal norms stop you from getting what you want as long as you aren't hurting anyone.
100% yes that's weird. i really just don't think that's a good idea. i get it, you're 26, not 16. but still... just an odd generational pairing. he'll retire in 14 years. you barely started your career. he likely has had a past marriage or kids. you have nothing yet. guys in their 50's going for girls in their 20's is just screaming midlife crisis. don't fall for it.
I would call it more unusual than it is weird.
Maybe not weird, but certainly very different/unusual.
Who cares? If you are both consenting adults, do what works for you.
It's weird for Leonardo DiCaprio since the woman is too old for him.
It's perfectly fine
Not when you still look in your late 20's like I do. Thus it depends on how old he looks.
Yeah, if a 50 year old is as mature as a 26 year old that is sad.
no way. 26 is not immature. like 26 is mature with youth.
Nope, not "weird" at all. Age is just a number, it doesn't matter.
It's normal and she is 26 she can make her own decision
i think if your of age it's all up to you who you choose
Nah, he obviously likes you for your personality and you obviously don't need therapy 💀💀..
yes, rare, not normal, but not bad.
Very weird since he could be her dad
He’s practically twice her age…
It’s pushing it but I won’t shit on you
Not if he has money and she has beauty.
Extremely weird, but not unheard of.
It is not uncommon anymore.
Nope and what I’ll wish for when I’m 50
Whatever floats your boat.
Only if you let it be
no not at all
