Does anyone text with repeating letters (such as "Hiiiiiii" or "ohhhhhh") and is not desperate, not emotionally unstable, not creepy, etc?

Does anyone text with repeating letters (more than 6 of the same letter) and is not desperate, not needy, not emotionally unstable, not a stalker, not creepy, not a criminal?

Or does anyone know someone who texts with repeating letters and does not have any of the behaviors I listed above?

A guy that I started texting recently uses a lot of repeating letters, such as "ohhhhhh" and "welllll" and a lot of exclamation marks. I'm starting to wonder if I should not go on a date with him. I don't know if that's a sign of something.

My reason is that I feel that it's extreme to use many repeating letters and exclamation marks. I think 2 or 3 repeating is okay, to express emotion such as enthusiasm, but I feel that 5, 6 or more is a little extreme. I've typed "yess" or "yesss" if I strongly agree with something, but I feel that even 3 seems a little too strong.

Does my point of view make sense, or it doesn't?

I saw someone brought up a good point. People that text that way, might be texting like teenagers. With that said, does anyone know people who text that way, but behaves maturely and communicates well? Thank you.

It could be a young or immature person, yes. But don't count the letters. When all we have is words, we need to use language in whatever ways necessary to convey our thoughts.

Now, on the other hand, if they exaggerate many things, or act extremely (read: overly, unrealistically) positive, then they've got some other personality traits coming out, there. And you may not jive with them, and that's fine.

But don't knock enthusiasm and playfulness. They are positives, not the dreaded and overused "red flags!". We should all be looking for more ways to accept one another, not eliminate one another.

I have an example of him being overly confident and got ahead of himself.

He asked me about my work schedule. I said I work Mondays to Fridays and I have weekends to myself to do what I want. He said he hope he could be part of my weekends "here and there." (We haven't even met yet for first date)

He just sounds different than you. Neither is wrong, just different ways of approaching life.

I'm not saying anyone is wrong. I understand that everyone is different and there's no right or wrong when people approach things differently. I was asking if that's unrealistic as I saw you mentioned unless he's exaggerating or unrealistic in addition to the repeating letters

Personally, I'd be on the lookout for someone being much younger than they claim. That's always a concern and possibility with online-only interactions. And I don't like chronic lying. It's a waste of time getting to know them, then.
And if your age bracket is accurate, you need to interact with mature people, as well, so I get your concern.

I don't, personally, like overly positive people. I've personally been more concerned about my own negativity, and how that would turn off people if I talk about, and therefore burden them with my own problems. But friends have told me that they actually prefer my realism, not sugarcoating is more interesting, feels more authentic, so it's possible there are others out there who are worried about this for nothing, and they can relax and not expend as much energy on trying to be positive, so much of the time.

I wouldn't call him unstable, though. I think it's something else, not that.
He could be:
Very young
Very enthusiastic
Very concerned with people liking him, so he thinks enthusiasm is the way to achieve that

Thank you for your reply. He's actually 1 year older than me and I'm 32. I read that someone on here mentioned he could be texting in juvenile manner, which I agree, so if he's emotionally stable and not so into himself, my next concern would be whether he's mature or not - in person, and willing to communicate if there's ever disagreement. I'm just going to be open-minded and not assume that he would talk and behavior the way he texts.

I also agree with your opinions that some people could be overly positive, and that would be a concern when I see someone texts with very high level of enthusiasm.

haha i do that a lot, and my friends find it funny because it helps them read my messages in my voice in their head.

well vs wellllll convey 2 different meanings, its not weird or wrong to text this way, it probably just means the texter is enthusiastic.

I didn't say it's wrong to use many repeating letters. I said that I receive that as being too extreme, especially when there are a lot of words with repeating letters in the same setting.

It just comes off as juvenile. Some of my peers would type that way when I was like 13 on AOL instant messenger LOL. Nah, I don’t think it’s a red flag or anything. I suppose they just want to type like a middle schooler.

Yesss! I agree with your point. I think that's what it is, but I completely forgot since this guy is in his 30's. I was thinking more about emotion stability, but it could be that it's not a mature style of texting.
