It's Valentine's and love is in the air and more so on the internet lol.
Do you consider yourself a romantic? How do you justify if your answer is yes?

Very much a romantic but not in that type of stereotypical way. I mean more in that I like to idealize everything and also use my imagination to push myself or make things better than they are.
For example, when I used to train as a sprinter, I imagined I was being chased by Cheetahs. That would help me to run faster. When I lift weights, I imagine my family's lives depend on it to help me get an extra rep as I'm close to failure.
Also I can make nearly any food taste good to me. As an example, I was once stuck in a hurricane shelter for days where all we had was canned food. To make it taste amazing instead of horrible, I imagined I was one of the early Russian astronauts who had nothing to eat by tasteless nutrient paste.
After I lived in that imagination of being a Russian astronaut, I came back to reality and ate a can of cold canned beans and it was the best-tasting food I ever tried in my life. Now cold canned beans (even without any sauce) are my favorite. My wife even offers to heat them up for me but I prefer them cold even though it literally tastes better heated up, I made the cold version taste so good to me in my imagination by romanticizing it during my experience in the hurricane shelter. I could make the heated version better too in my imagination if I romanticized it but I haven't needed to yet since I can just eat them cold.
It's like that. I make my life better and motivate myself to do things by romanticizing things as needed.
It does help make life a lot more meaningful and enjoyable! Sometimes I might do it too much but I'm allergic to people who say, for example, that love is just chemical reactions in the brain.
While that's technically true as far as I can tell, to me that's like saying Mozart's music is just a bunch of sounds, or that a Rembrandt painting is just pigment on a canvas. Looking at the world that way robs it of all its meaning and beauty.
So I try to find the metaphorical "music" in everything I can, even the rhythmic sound of rain drops on a gloomy day. Life is more enjoyable that way.
I am genuinely into closeness and being dedicated to the person I am with... so that can be perceived as romantic
I like to remember all the small details about him... and use this knowledge to surprise him. I like small gestures, showing I remember and care...
But I think the opinion if it's romantic should be on his side, as a receiver, lol...
I love love.. I am a romantic but not the cheesy kind. 😊
