Should I initiate texts with the guy on days leading up to our first date?

Met Guy on dating app yesterday and talked for about 3 hours last night. He asked me out and I said yes because I want to vibe check in face to face conversation. He set the date, time and place immediately. Date is 3 days away. Do I send him a message today just to keep the energy going? Or wait for his message?

Hey! I have a question. So this guy and I have been texting few times a day. He anlways initiated texts. It’s 1am of the day of the date where I am. Date is in the evening. we were texting till about 8pm yesterday. It was going really well and then he didn’t reply around 8pm. I’m assuming he got busy with something. It’s now past midnight and I’m getting doubts. When should I follow up with him if he doesn’t reply tomorrow to check if date is still on? I was thinking, if he doesn’t reply by noon, I’ll send follow up text around noon because date is at 6pm. What do you think?
