It's wrong because it shows you putting your enjoyment ahead of your baby PLUS there's the potential risk of the child being abused if you don't leave it with the most trustworthy person. Some people realize what the priorities should be in life & how to handle their responsibilities. Others think being an expert at having a good time is more important than raising their kid.
Totally unfair. You're a parent, not dead.
@DrPepper12 Coincidentally the people who had parents who prioritized having fun are the ones most often complaining about being neglected & abused by pervs. Sometimes life choices have consequences. How we deal with them is a measure of our character.
I hear you but the opposite also occurs where parents resent the infringement caused by having kids and fuck up the kids that way by anger or ignoring them. I just think a vacation for a single mom who leaves kid with a trusted person is not a big deal. She has a life too
@DrPepper12 Yes, some people just suck at being parents (your example of people who are with the kid but neglect them). Although, that said, I think a big part of today's problems is also that kids get spoiled. When a kid is under 6 years old or so, if you spoil the kid it's more likely to grow up more needy... so then it could feel neglected even tho a kid growing up with parents who weren't around much 50 years ago would NOT feel neglected one bit. Like I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Kids weren't with their parents much during a day. Kids did their own stuff. Now kids are practically in orange jump suits with ankle monitors.
"I just think a vacation for a single mom who leaves kid with a trusted person is not a big deal. She has a life too" -- I would have a different opinion if she said the kid was 5+. To me leaving a 1 year old is no different than leaving a 1 day old. Yet these moms always want trophies for being mom of the year.
We dont know if the person is trustworthy or not, family or not. I defer to her judgement. She deserves a break
@DrPepper12 Bro, the whole reason western society is in rapid decline is because men deferred to feminists (male & female). ha ha ha ha. Yes, you're entitled to your POV, of course.
Right, feminism. Got it.
I don't think I could have done it when they were that young. Generally once you have a kid, your life sort of revolves around them. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself, but taking a vacation without them seems a bit selfish. When they get a bit older and aren't as reliant on you then you can consider it. Unless you are going to a place like Disney without them, then that's just cruel.
Respectfully I can't think of a person who needs a vacation more.
I get that, and I don't necessarily disagree, but being a parent means you give up some of those luxuries to be with your kids and ensure they are happy.
Preach. Been sacrificing for over 20 years now!
WRONG? I can’t judge people that way. It depends who the kid is with, blah blah blah.
AWKWARD? Yeah… I mean I wouldn’t have been able to do that at all. Even decades later it feels odd to part with one’s flesh and blood… esp a mom.
Cannot believe you had to ask this and shame on those that said no. The one year old baby is dependent on it's mother for everything. To go on holiday as it is called is neglect and abandoning the child.

Just try not to get pregnant again on your vacation…
If it’s a short trip and you have adequate child care, it’s fine
Of course not. Just make sure you have a babysitter who’s reliable and whom you trust.
If you know the baby is in good care I think it's okay
Absolutely not!! I would say you deserve a vacation as long as kid is in safe hands. Have fun!!
Seems like REALLY poor risk management. But then again, the fact that she's a single mother kinda tells you her judgement sucks already.
Who TF do you think you are? You've got chutzpah anon coward
@DrPepper12 It doesn't take TOO much chutzpah to make a factually correct statement.
You are unfit to comment on other humans until you become one.
@DrPepper12 Back at ya uber-douche!
I think the fact that the single mother would ask that question says a lot about her.
No I don't think so
