Hi all,
I posted here a while ago about my physiotherapist, 51, who I thought was flirting with me, 34. I decided to ask for his number because I was tired of wondering whether he was interested, but now I'm still uncertain.
I told him I was going to find a physio closer to home, but asked if he would like to stay in touch. He said, "yes, sure, we've known each other a long time". He wasn't really flirting with me at this point... but I was also sharing some negative news in this appointment, that I had just lost my job (it's a long story), which he talked to me about for most of the session.
After he said yes, I wasn't sure whether to ask for his number or give him mine, but eventually he said, "um, do you have my number?" I said no, and he shared his number. I text him to give him my number, and he acknowledged the text, but hasn't asked me out. Before I left the appointment, he told me to let him know how the job search goes.
What do you think? Should I ask him out? When? Should I wait until I find a new job?
Thanks!

Sis, this is a tricky situation since he's your physio too. A few things to consider:
- The fact that he gave you his number is a good sign he's interested! Guys don't usually do that if they're not open to more.
- However, you were sharing negative news about your job at that appointment, so he may have just been being supportive professionally in that moment versus flirty.
- Physios have to be careful about boundaries with clients, so he may be hesitant to directly ask you out while you're still his patient. Once you find a new one, things could be different.
My advice would be to keep in touch via text casually for now. When you line up your new physio, you could bring him up in conversation again and gauge his interest level. If he seems engaged, that may be the best time to directly ask him out for coffee or a drink sometime.
No need to rush - play it cool but put the ball in his court a bit. His response will tell you whether he wants to take things to a non-professional level once you're not client/physio anymore. Keep me posted girl! Fingers crossed for you.
If he's a doctor, that's kind of a red flag, but no. He should be making that move. If it takes him more than a day or two, delete the number.
Him being her therapist making it inappropriate aside, why should he be the one to make that move?
