Downsides are that you'll be subjected to the most superficial aspect of humanity. To where a simple 1inch difference I height could be the difference in you getting a match or not. Or if you do match, they probably most likely just want to have sex. Or if you don't match, something like your race could be the biggest reason why.

Upsides are that you get to see just how shit it all is so that you can avoid it.

I remember using one when I was like 14 & thinking "this is so stupid." I've never genuinely used one since. Only used it to troll people before.

Pros

The ice gets broken before talking in person. So the first time you meet up and talk you already know what things you have in common and you can have more fun and engaging conversations

There are no pros. I’ve been lucky and had great success in them cause I’m ok looking, but let me tell you, the quality of the people is abysmal, you’re so much better off meeting irl, if you’re a woman you’re gonna get used and abused and lied to and manipulated for sex, the men who genuinely want you will almost always be ugly. For men it’s the same, except the women don’t want sex, they’re usually trying to replace or get over someone they’re in love with, and it works out great because the men prey on that to have sex. Gotta remember, everyone’s on there for a reason, they can’t achieve love anywhere else. Most don’t even want love. It’s just entertainment. And a lot of people super over edit their photos, I’ve met maybe 15 women, maybe 2 of them looked like the photos, dating apps are awful, even just for hookups. Definitely prefer shooting my shot in real life. So much more exciting and rewarding.

The cons are it benefits liars more since most people who use it are looking for short term relationships no matter what they pretend they're looking for. Because of this, if you lie about who you are, the other person will believe you and having an inflated social status through lying about the work you do makes it all the more easier for a one night smash which is likely what's expected. Men won't care what your intentions are when they've already believed you to be using the app for that purpose, making it harder to get a genuine connection to anybody and in the worst case scenario, you might end up caught in a power dynamic situation.

The pros are that it boost your ego if you aren't actually trying to date anybody.

I approach dating apps like apartment apps, I just check the lay of the land, knowing full well I won't be able to afford the luxury of renting one. So for pro, it's entertaining to read profiles. If it's OKC, they have a great question function.

Cons - basically a scam with "premium" accounts just to have the privilege to see who liked you. Very low like count is likely. ELO, if you don't know what that is, I highly suggest you look into it. Guys aren't really supposed to be successful at it, it's a business, they need you to come back.

it can go really good and and great for some (that's the pro)... but those some who this works with are a very minor percentage of the people who use dating apps... from the rest you hear all kinds of nightmares (that's the con)

Pros is you get to tell they are single, you get some base information (if they even provide it) for a conversation starterter, the base info gives a decent idea of their likes, you can talk to them without the danger, and assholes you can just block.

Convenient to look and chat with people from the comfort of your home.

Cons:

Likely fake profiles with a possible dangerous person.
Scammers looking to set you up.

Dating apps are okay but just be careful with them. Pros can be the comfort of sitting on your couch at home relaxing and not have to go out! The cons are you never know who your really talking too. But to each their own because in the end you have to do d we hat you think is right for yourself!!!
