Girls, Liking an old post on Instagram of a girl you just added?

Is it a bit "weirdo" to add a girl on Instagram and like a really old post of hers? There's this girl I'm interested in, but I don't know her personally. She's objectively very attractive and constantly gets attention and approaches on IG. If I want to get to know her through the platform, I need to find a way to stand out or at least get noticed. If she just knew I existed, that would already be a win. That’s why I thought of liking an old post.

DMing her is out of the question since I’d have to send a chat request, and she might never even see it; liking her stories might not work either because she probably already gets tons of likes there. Any advice or suggestions?

(additional info: I’m an Italian guy living in Italy, and I’m not sure if social norms change depending on the place.)

It happens to me all the time, I generally wouldn’t do anything about a random like though so I don’t think this strategy will get you far.


Honestly, making a big effort to engage is a turnoff because it comes across stalker-y. Reaching out with a supportive comment on recent posts a few times (over the course of weeks not hours or days, don’t spam the girl or those same red flags pop up) might be a more successful strategy.


I wouldn’t bank on a sudden switch in fortunes but she might gradually start to notice you with this strategy.


Otherwise for social media folx we are generally actively looking for others with big followings for collars if she’s going anything commercial on there.

Thank you so much for your detailed response, it really helped me understand some dynamics that are a bit unclear to me (I’m not a big fan of social media interactions, but I have to admit they’re the majority, at least where I’m from). Your perspective on strategy and patience was eye-opening.
