Do dating apps actually work for serious relationships or are they just for hookups? What’s been your experience?

They are just like in person. There will be many people you aren't interested in, and the ones you are interested in are likely in the top 10% or more rare and you will be competing against many other people that are interested in them too.

Highly desirable people will find that they have even more options online due to a greater total number of people, and less desirable people will often be severely disappointed due to competing with the more desirable ones.

Plus, there are scammers online just like in real life, only worse.

I met my wife on a dating site, and I know several other couples who did the same.

Dating sites and apps are what you make of them. Some people are just looking for hookups, while others are looking for serious relationships, and some are just there to cause problems.

It can work because I did chat for awhile with one guy from POF who seemed genuinely pleasant, funny and kind but I never met up with him because I felt he was totally out of my league. But besides him there were hundreds of weirdo, hookup only dirt bags who lie and waste time. So it is probably best to avoid them unless you are desperate and don't mind searching for a needle in a haystack.

I used a pay to join dating site. I live out in the boonies so the pickins were pretty slim.
For me it worked, that is where I met my wife, or we met each other.
We were both on eHarmony.
If you are serious about finding someone, I would suggest trying them.
because of the cost most people are serious about finding that someone special, not just using it as a hookup site, but you still need to be creful, there are some on the sites that use them for that.
On the plus side you can p them if that happens.
It's just lunch is another one that is out there now.

Here is a clue: How many successful dating app relationships have you heard of that worked out for the best! None is the answer I would give! Until people begin to put these GD'd smart phones away and quit listening to ALL the scam dating, romance, facebook, twitter, etc they can expect to take it in the ass!

Dating apps are mostly simps andr guys lookin to get laid typically, any men I speak with that have real standards, morals etc wouldn't think twice about any dating app, now in not saying there's not any good guys on there, but, I mean it all depends on the type of guy your looking for, to be totally honest, most guys aren't even interested in relationships anymore, modern women want to be treated like housewives yet expect to be treated like soo, nobody wants a used condom md sadly nowadays that's all there is

They have worked for me a great deal...
Would you believe , since around 1998 , everyone I have gone out with has started online , it's not always been quick., now we have apps ( the problem now is fakes , scams - and her Gattoy who don't declare sometimes )

But they work , for whatever you want them to work for , including long term.

I think dating is a numbers game, especially for men since the dynamic is that women are the ones who are asked out while men do the asking.

My personal experience and the experience that I've heard from others is that occasionally apps are good places to meet women for a relationship, but you get better results from asking girls out in person.

I think the best thing is to keep all avenues open so as to spread the broadest net possible.

Dating apps actually NEVER worked for me, not even for "hookups". Believe me I tried a whole set of different ones, as well those to pay for as the free ones. Sure I'm not young anymore, but still: rather frustrating.
