My boyfriends keep on making plans without including?

On his birthday 🎁 he told me that we are having a meal with his parents never asked. I let it slide. Today he told me that, he wants me to visit his grandparents and this is lovely. However I told I was busy on that day. I love him very much but I put my foot down. Am I being to harsh about this?

It's good to have a conversation with him about asking before presuming that you're free to just follow him to the ends of the earth. A girlfriend/boyfriend has other things to do. A spouse typically shares a social calendar, which is way different.
