9 moAll sensible answers so here I come with a curve ball.
Very little, maybe the most intimidate secret or maybe not even that if you’re autistic (or to be more accurate a specific profile/presentation on the spectrum), on a first date the other person gets a crash course speed dating style in unfiltered, uncensored, detailed breakdown of the person, very little held back, because can’t be bothered with these Neurotypical games/logic, life is short let’s get on with figuring out if we like each other.
Which I guess some would politely excuse themselves, some might just immediately run for the hills or maybe find refreshing and endearing?
Yeah, it’s a spectrum, so you’d also might get the meek, quiet, barely says anything about themselves too shy type as well of course, who hides everything afraid of what the other person would think about any of it.

9 moOn a first date, most people hide their flaws, insecurities, and anything that might feel “too much” too soon. This could include past relationship baggage, financial struggles, personal fears, or deeply private issues. Some even tone down quirky habits or controversial opinions to avoid scaring the other person off. It’s also common to hold back strong emotions or expectations about the future. Essentially, people present their best version, hoping to create a good first impression while keeping vulnerabilities tucked away until trust builds. What you hide often depends on how much you want the connection to grow.

9 moIf I feel comfortable around him, I'll do my best to hide my talkative nature lol I can talk a lot if I really enjoy someone's company but I always feel like it's kind of offensive when on a date. I know I don't like it when they do all the talking, unless the date is slowly dying, then they can talk all they want 😂

9 moNot necessarily hide but omit that I have mental health issues. That's not exactly going to win a person over nor do I think it's really their business to know until after a few dates.

9 moI've never hidden anything on a first date. That doesn't mean, though, that she learns everything about me. Not every subject comes up on a first date. Some, in fact, take years.

9 moI don’t necessarily hide anything. There are things I don’t feel comfortable discussing with someone I just met but I’m not necessarily hiding anything either

9 moNothing. I'm an open book. I actually prefer if they're interested in things about me.

9 moOn a first date, people often hide:
- Heavy emotional baggage
- Strong opinions (politics, exes, etc.)
- Over-eagerness or neediness
- Quirks they’re not sure about yetIt’s less about being fake and more about keeping it light until trust is built. You show the “best version” of yourself first — not the whole encyclopedia. 😄

@trimmedtip intriguingly, you're right that humans indeed only want to put their best selves forward, though I sort of wonder if straight from date one, "im lying* lol 😆🤣

Unless you’re autistic (or to be more accurate a specific profile/presentation on the spectrum), then all that goes out the window and the other person gets a crash course speed dating style in unfiltered, uncensored, detailed breakdown of the person, very little held back, because can’t be bothered with these Neurotypical games/logic, life is short let’s get on with figuring out if we like each other.

9 moI don't talk about my exes or why the relationships ended. I just say that we weren't right for each other. I don't believe that my past relationships are necessarily people's business, or that I got cheated on either. It doesn't affect my future relationships.

9 moThat I'm glad Trump's team is taking out John Bolton. Fuck around and find out. Oh... he's a republican... I don't like Republican's from his Bush supporting ass and glad he is about to get buck broken.
Other than that... I might hide that I might shove my thumb up her ass while in doggy style... I like it to be a surprise. So I'll hide my mission to do it.

u 9 moYou're just getting comfortable and getting to know someone on the first date. You're not trauma-dumping, revealing your deepest and darkest secrets, or anything like that. You're just building a connection, feeling them out. So you're not "hiding" anything at all really.

Anonymous(18-24)9 mo@ironco No disrespect, but if I knew a guy was a widower I would rip my clothes off in the middle of the street for him and let him do anything he wanted to me, and I think most girls would do the same. You cannot make up a hotter situation in a girl's mind than being able to be the comforting angel.

9 moI don’t hide shit I leave it all out there for her to see. And if she has any questions like they always do, Then I entertain them by keeping them laughing as I tell the truth. No need to hide anything it isn’t like I live a strange life with weird people in it.
00 Reply 2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. Nothing. There are things that I don't really bring up, but I will be honest when talking to a guy on a first date.

9 moIt's not so much that I hide it, I find it in really poor taste to talk about my exes on a first date. I would get a very poor first impression from my date if she did it of hers as I would get the impression she wasn't over him.
