r do people use it for other things or reasons

[Hardon-Collider]

No. And I never will. To catfish someone is to consciously feed a phantom with another person's life-forces. It's a violation of the principle that love must be built on a foundation of truth. A lie about love is a lie about life.

I don't use dating sites anymore, because they were mostly useless.

Thanks for MHO

My boyfriend has seen photos of my entire family because he can hack email accounts; he knows not just my appearance, but my uncles and aunts too; which I never post online.

Now. Why would anyone do it?

Never even used a dating site, much less for that purpose.

Never been on a dating site. Never met anyone who has ever used a dating site.

Most catfish are pretty easy to spot.
