Dating

This girl didn't know that I asked her out on a date? Should I move on?

So there was a girl in my class that i liked and we start talking a bit during my last semester. My masters ended in September, so I thought to ask her out on a date before everyone leaves.

I asked her if she wants to go out with me and grab some ice cream and she accepted. The date went well according to me and it seemed like we had a good time.

However once we were back home, she asked over text why I asked her out? (like it wasn't obvious lol). So I told her I wanted to get to know her better and kind of like her personality and shizz. She said she had no idea it was a date ( she said I am oblivious and admitted that never been asked out before on a date) and she thought since everyone was leaving so I wanted to catch up with her before she leaves. She also asked me that was liking her a recent thing or it was going on for a long time. She said I am asking you this because she thought I didn't like her the whole time lol. I told her that its been a while like a few months. She was a bit shocked haha.

Anyways, I asked her again over text that if she would like to date me. So she said that she liked the idea of dating and thought I was really sweet but she is moving to a new city soon and going to start her phd there, will be busy settling in and would get free maybe by December, so she thinks it is unfortunate timing to date rn hence she can't date me.

I am confused right now did she let me down easy and I should move on or should I wait a bit and maybe keep in touch and try meeting her again and see where it goes? Let me know your thoughts!!
