Most of the time women give men very poor dating advice. Not intentionally but here is why:
It would seem to be effective to get advice from a female friend but it’s actually misleading and counterproductive. My own mother was actually horrible about this (or dismissive) and the one time she told me “that girl has no respect for you” was a rare exception. She did a good job at saying “that girl can’t see what she has in front of her”. That was also a rare moment because more often then not my mom always assumed I got rejected because it was something I did wrong
Anyway it’s better to get advice from successful guys in these scenarios. They know I think but they also know what’s effective.

Over the years, I've been given good advice and terrible advice from the opposite sex about dating. Generally, the good advice comes from the ones who are really grounded in reality, as harsh or ugly as it can be sometimes, and the bad advice comes from the delusional dreamers whose entire belief system is based on "whatever she wants at the time" with no real concrete principles.
Some of the most important things I have learned about women have come directly from women, but that's been the exception more than the rule. In my experience, most women project what they WISH they thought and felt on situations rather than what they actually think and feel, because their actual thoughts and feelings don't align with what they tell everyone they are, and they don't have the capacity to admit they were wrong or were lying - they'll stick to the original story even as it's crashing around them. But the really grounded ones - the exceptions - can be really valuable.
Absolutely. When using online dating perhaps 10 years ago, I was going through a slow spell. A slightly younger woman indicated she wasn't interested, and I asked her if there was something in my profile that was a red flag or a turn off. She re-read my profile and then gave me some feedback that I did not expect. I was projecting an image that was not me and it was a problem. I made a few changes to my profile and instantly saw a change in the responses I began to receive.
No matter how hard we try, men cannot always understand what a woman is thinking or feeling, especially when we are dating. The best person to interpret a woman's words and behavior is another woman.
Yes I would. It's part of the reason why I'm on here. To get dating advice from guys. I don't always follow it but I try for the most part. I should have followed it recently. My guy friend and some guys on here as well as some women told me not to go out with a new guy I met online but I didn't listen. It was a big mistake. I will never not listen again.
Honestly, no. Most women have no clue what they want. And if they actually did give solid advice about how to attract women and you followed it, why wouldn't be attracted to you as well?
Yeah but watch your step for ulterior motives sometimes.
I did. After our amicable divorce (married for 20 years), my ex-wife suggested I try a dating site. I did, dated a few very nice women, and met my current wife, married for 9 years and counting.
What site?
@Steak_D_Bone I highly doubt that
@Steak_D_Bone you’re a bit broken, but you’re right about dating sites today
I told my girlfriend I was losing my six pack so now she doesn’t have to worry about women looking at me anymore.
She starting to say something about her friends looking at me and then started saying “I’m angry all of the time and I scare people”. I responded with “Women have a fetish for psychopaths, prisons are full of guys that have tons of children and gfs/x-wives”
If you want a wife, well no one knows how to do that, money? No one knows, arranged marriages, meeting while you’re both still in high school, luck? But for dates, short relationships, and hook ups, don’t take the advice of women. I know perfect women with innocent hearts that married straight up psychopaths.
I don't take dating advice from women because women overthink, their thought process is more complex, they have more wants and needs, and one minute they want something, the next they don't. Women and girls tend to break up more based on two reasons: 1) the feeling of power and being in control, and 2) pursuing green pastures even if the guy is working hard and trying to be there for her. Guys are simpler; ambitious, challenging guys at work will give up their lives for their wives and kids.
To any female reading this, thinking whatever you're just another bitter, jaded, sexless guy online talking sh! t. No, actually, I'm speaking facts, judging by the movies I've watched, the magazines I've read, the stories i've heard, the things i've dealt with personally myself, the things i've heard other guys say and having three older sisters and majority of my family are women so I know how they think and operate, I'm speaking facts.
You can get valuable insights on what women want by asking women
But you can’t get “advice”
Because a woman can’t walk in your shoes
She knows what she wants to see but she doesn’t know what it takes to get it
Your best bet is getting advice from someone who’s had success with it as a guy
Yes, source dependent though (there are just some that are bitter and the advice isn't coming from a good place.). I think it's foolish to think we know it all and advice can only come from one place or one gender, or one person. Getting advice from the opposite sex has really opened my eyes on some things and how I approach certain situations. You get caught up in your own feelings and what your gender does/doesn't/should/shouldn't/can/will do, that you sometimes don't see the other side of things so being mature enough to listen to someone else, especially of the opposite gender, and give their advice a shot, can really work in your favor.
You should especially take dating advice from the opposite sex.
I have told sad sacks what they need to do to get a date, and then they don't do it, and they don't get dates. Most guys who can't get a girl only need to change 2 or 3 things to get in the game, but they won't do it.
(And thank you, thank you, thank you for saying the correct phrase ‘opposite sex’ rather than opposite gender.)
That’s still tough though. Every women has different wants in guys. Subjective
Would I take dating advice from the fish or the fisherman? Advice would be great from the fish, if it were self aware enough to give me a good information. But we are human and we suck at self awareness. That being said, take what you can from the fish and then use it in combination with the knowledge the fisherman is giving you. Good luck, it's a cold world out there.
It is good to get the perspective from the opposite gender. However, ALL advice that I get regarding dating I take with a grain of salt. Most of it is based on outdated views or from dating when they were 25. Some of it can be good advice though.
Had a deal with a female friend that we would tell each other what we thought of our crush. It is just natural to only see the sexually exciting aspects of someone we fancy.
There is a strong inclination to think if a person looks good, they must be a good person and that is not true. A good looking person can get away with more so they may not be so beautiful on the inside as the outside.
So I do and have
Usually no.
75% of dating advice from women is bad or only serves her and none of his standards and values matter. Only hers.
You don't ask a fish how to catch a fish. You ask a fisherman.
I would only take dating advice from someone in a long and successful marriage and in whom I trust, regardless of gender.
I have taken dating advice from females and it has often been to my detriment. When giving dating advice women tend to say what they think they should say, not reality. They rarely want to tell you something they perceive might put women as a whole in a bad light, which means they often give bad advice, albeit sometimes with good intentions.
Some women can give valuable advice, but they are far and few between. The overwhelming majority of women are clueless about how the male brain works. Women will say one thing, and then do the total opposite. A lot of women are not even sure what it is they want , and they can be easily manipulated by a man. In short: under most circumstances, NO.
You should never take dating advice from the opposite sex. Take dating advice from someone who has no problems dating and isn't overly attractive.
How 'bout taking dating advice from a handsome Brady such as I?
Absolutely, I've been listening to a men's dating coach podcast for now. They help break down female psychology, help you approach confidently, and give practical strategies that actually get results.
Yes because the opposite sex knows what they like or want. It’s very interesting that women will always have great advice for us men however some women will not take men’s advice at all and just say that we men don’t know anything about ourselves and just shut up.
Sure. Just because they’re the opposite gender doesn’t mean their opinions are invalid. Plus guys often understand each other better, just like girls do.
not anymore, cause if you take dating advice from women you turn into the guy who's pleasant to women that they like being arund but that they won't get sexual or intimate with.
Generally no. The saying 'women don't know what they want' has some merit, because women might say they want a man who does what she wants, but in reality she won't want a man who she can walk all over.
no.
fishing is not learned from fishes, you learn with experience or from a fisher.
It doesn't do any good to try to help most women with dating. They're hopelessly locked into failure. The sad part is these pathetic women only need to alter one two things to have real success but these women simply refuse to do it.🤷♂️ what ya gonna do. You just have to watch them fail, wash, rinse, repeat. And hope at some point they wise up.
Nobody should take relationship/dating advice from women.
For certain things, definitely.
I think women tend to give really good advice for visual stuff, smells, and other aesthetic/sensory things.
I probably wouldn’t consult women for emotional and attraction things.
Yes of course to some degree,
I think dating advice from the opposite sex can be insightful and eye opening, because there are some things we will never fully understand about the opposite sex, so a man giving me advice may open up my world a bit and help me learn.
However it's also important not to take it too seriously, as regardless of gender dating advice can be bad no matter who you get it from.
Of course! Girls know what they like and what turns them off. Sometimes, a guy doesn't understand some things, and a girl could do him a favor by helping him out.
Sure.. Some women give good insight into how many think.. But at the same time most haven't tried to pursue women. So it would have to be a woman who understands how women respond to men at least.
All depends on if I trust the person and know they want the best for me.
Also, if they say something that wouldn't fit me as a person, then I just wouldn't.
One of the dumbest things a man can do is take dating advice from a women. You dont as the fish how to fish you ask the fisherman.
from men irl: yes👌🏻
from men on GaG: noooo😱😂
@valentina4eva Are you suggesting we men on GaG are not real? I've been called many things, but unreal is not one of them. 😐
noooooo!!😂🤣
i think men on GaG are real, i just prolly wouldn’t take dating advice from most of them!😅🙈
except @AviatorTom im pretty sure he’s just a hallucination🤔😆
Haha. I actually laughed out loud at that
it depends on the guy!!😅 there are plenty of men on GaG that are totally normal & cool😊 but then there are soooo many creepers tooo😅😵 it’s like either end of the spectrum lol
i would still 100% trust girls advice here over mens advice when it comes to dating or sex tho!!💯
Sure why not as they likely have a better idea of what their kind are like.
From someone actually in a ongoing and healthy relationship sure.
If I agreed with what she had to say, sure. If I don't agree with it, no.
My trust in that person and their knowledge matters, not there gender. That being said, not really asking for dating advice from other people
Yes. If I consider this advice as useful.
Not all men have mental and emotional horizon of a 12 yo. boys
If it's a trusted friend whose ideas and values are similar to yours, why not consider it. Might give you good insight.
Sure. That's one of the reasons I joined GAG.
But
It depends on the member of the opposite sex. I screen out idiots and assholes pretty efficiently.
Depends. If she’s a feminist, no way. If it’s someone with good values. Friends with anyone, then I’m all ears
I wouldn’t take advice from someone who is in the type relationship I wouldn’t want to be in.
I think dating advice from the opposite sex can be just as good if not better than dating advice from the same sex
Of course. MY sister is only 15 months older and has given me good advice on dating and sex.
That about as fucked up as it can get
I was asking whether or not turkeys take dating advice from Thanksgiving chefs.
I'd put it in my back pocket, as they say. Some might be good, but I'd take it with a basket of salt. Never learn how to fish from a fish.
Girls know what girls like. Who can tell me what a girl wants better than another girl? My sister gave me advice before I started dating my fiancée. My mom helped a former coworker woo and marry his wife.
yes, I had female friends that gave me good advice.
I would probably listen to their suggestions since they are the same sex as what I’m looking for so maybe they’ll have better insight
Yes, because a woman knows how she and by definition other women want to be treated.
I don’t accept any advice in romance.
this exact...
That depends. I won’t take advice from someone who goes through flings like they’re on the verge of dying. Same with body count or is a philanderer
Yes, i'm a watcher and a listener, i learn from everybody...
I have. Sometimes it was correct. Sometimes it wasn't. That's the same for any advice about anything.
If I want to stay single I certainly will.
I did and would
Sure, if it's a good advice, why not...
Never! They can be misleading
Considering I'm attracted to the opposite sex, yes
