Yes, the times a woman’s directly asked me out has been very few and far in between. But I can’t imagine it NEVER happening especially to average and even handsome dudes.

I’ve never been asked out for a first date by a woman. An ex-girlfriend of mine asked me out for our second date after our first date, that i initiated, went well. I’ve had three strange women make unwanted sexual advances, and surprisingly only two were drunk at the time.
I’ve had a number of men make direct advances as well. One asked me out and the others made sexual overtures.


I believe it was OKCupid that published the results of an enormous poll that they conducted involving hundreds of thousands of users over several years. The results suggested that less than 15% of women had ever made the first move and a negligible percentage practiced it as the norm.
There’s a truth of human nature: people rarely exert more energy than they have to in order to achieve a desired result. Very few women have to ask men out in order to find potential mates. So they just don’t. Why would they? Why would you? If you had women throwing themselves at you in droves, would you EVER expend any amount of energy to chase women? Almost certainly not. This is also why men frequently referred to as “players” or “f*ckboys” are simultaneously described as “emotionally unavailable”, “distant” or “afraid of commitment”. Even if it’s in their nature to settle down, they are going to suffer from choice overload. Obviously women experience the same thing and when they exercise their options it’s called hypergamy or monkey branching.

I was asked out twice, once in my late teens and once in my early 20s - but this was in the 80s and early 90s. Things have changed a lot since then. I'm ugly as hell, so, you can see how much things changed.

Today, if you aren't in the top 5% of men in attractiveness (and I'm being generous - likely the real number is more like the top 2%), then it's very unlikely that a woman is going to ask you out. If you ARE in that top group, then you'll get asked out fairly often - but in that context, you probably find it annoying unless she's hot and down to bang immediately - and some are.

They usually create situations to be around you, but rarely will ask you out.
I've had them wait at bus stops for me back when I was in school, one decided to come and lie on top of me while I was resting on the sofa when being with friends. That same one also asked me to put sunscreen, but not on her back, a few years later.
One started massaging my private parts while we were studying, inside the house of her boyfriend.
The most direct was one that asked me if I couldn't see that she liked me. I had been doing my best to not get into that.

I don't see any issues with us having to stick our neck out and ask them. They also take steps and risks for rejection on their side like I just mentioned, even if it's generally more subtle than what we do.
Some also like to talk about this with their friends, how 'he' asked her out even if she almost had to spell it for him. Don't take that away from them.

I’ve been asked out a handful of times and tolerated a few drunken sexual advances. For the former only 1 felt relaxed in my experience the awkwardness didn’t come across as cute.
Really don’t like the drunken propositions especially when the women is overtly sexual, a massive turn off , I’d never approach a woman drunk.
