Phone stolen, can police do anything here?

Had a woman over last night, I went to use restroom and boom! She was gone and my phone is. I don’t know her contact info by memory, it’s in my phone. Just got a new phone but I have to wait 23 hrs to change password so can get in iCloud.

can anything be done about this?

So I had a phone stolen during a vacation in 2024. I went to the phone company I had always used, brought some I. D. to prove who I was, and gave correct responses to a few security questions, and they gave me a new phone with all the old numbers added back on since they were saved to digital code and not to my physical phone. You could see if you could use I. D. and the same phone company to get your data automatically placed in your brand new phone, and then see if the number you have of her cell phone can cause the police to track her location and get her jailed for theft. I know some companies have trackers attached to their phones and this is how corrupt employees at airports get caught when they steal things from their patrons.

I don’t know what phone you have but from what you said, apple makes things really hard

I had to pay for my new phone so its not as painless as it sounds but my concern was not the price tag, my concern was I had ten years of photos, important data, friends I wanted to stay in touch with, and banking information stored on my phone, and I did not want to lose that sensitive data due to theft. Because ten years worth of vacations and the photos that come with it are worth more than then the cost of a single phone.
