If you notice an age gap then its too much. If it feels normal, then its fine. My wife is 20 years younger but she's an old soul and it feels like we're the same age.

At the time I was 21 and he was 30, I just thought we might be at totally different points in our lives and a huge gap in experiences might be too much but it never actually felt that way

Because you’re in different places in life and always will be. For example he will retire 9 years earlier, when I reture and maybe want to travel or do stuff he might be too sick and I become his caregiver instead. I’d likely be a widow earlier when he’s that much older than me and considering the fact women live longer than men on average. Thing like this. My grandparents were ”only” 6 and 7 years apart and had these problems. Yeah, maybe the younger one would be the one to die or get sick earlier, maybe the older one would be full of energy until 105 years old. But if you’re going by statistics and what’s realistic and most likely that’s not what’s going to happen. Also the younger one may want kids/more kids in the coming years and the older one may feel he’s too old or don’t have the energy for kids/more kids in 10 years. There are also increased risk for fertility issues, pregnancy complications and disorders and mental health issues in ghe child when the guy is older, especially older than 40/45 and even more so when the guy is at that age and above and the woman is 10 or more years younger (I don’t know why but research show this) and 9 is cutting it close. We also wouldn’t have had the same experience and kid/teen culture growing up so we don’t share that and can’t reference that or reminisce such things.
