Why do some men get jealous or upset about a woman having male friends?

I am a very social woman with lots of friends, both guys and girls. Casual and ones who are like brothers to me. Why did it upset one guy I was talking to, years ago? Is it not logical that if I’d wanted my guy friends and they’d wanted me, that we’d have acted on it long ago?

That’s a good question. Maybe he thought you were playing manipulative mind games on him (the guy you were talking to) by using your male friend. Hence he might have thought you are purposely trying to make him jealous ( for any reason)

There are women who play these kind of immature mind games.

There is a difference between a guy getting jealous on his own ( insecurities) as compared to a woman purposely trying to make a guy jealous. Hence maybe the guy you were talking to thought that the latter was true.

I cannot think of any other reason.

I never play these sorts of games with people. I don’t fall in love quickly, often or easily but once I do, I’m fiercely loyal. To the point where I’m often taken for granted.

I'm not going to judge you and your circumstances, but in my life... here is the what and the why.

It starts out like, "Okay, she has all these dude friends" and no real judgement yet. But time has a way of letting the truth slip out. I won't go into details, but basically I start to realize she's addicted to attention and pretty much every single one of these "friends" has a mission, and that mission is to fuck. Bascially an attention whore with a bunch of orbitor SIMPS... meanwhile she gets crazy when she catches me talking to one of my sisters.

She thinks she's in control, would never indulge in cheating. But it always starts the same, relationships conversations leads to crucial details being slipped out there, and eventually one of these friends are not a sexually unattractive loser with women. Jim (random fake name I just made up) was that, but he started hitting the weights... he's looking good to her now.

It's all over with when the flirting starts, when it's being hidden, and kept alive and well in the background.

So why do I get jealous? She's busy working on her next man and possibly the next man after the next and she gives me shit just because my sister texted me or the McDonald's girl was batting her eyes at me. How do I figure out these guys are not just friends? they share no common interest... not real ones like me and the bros type of friends do. It slips out on social media and I see it, or it's more overt... like text for her on her phone and the guy cusses me out (really happened, and she asked me to text him back for her), or some guy I don't even know is trying to start a fight with me in the elevator (really happened, turns out it's "Just a friend" from work), and so on.

So I'm to the point in my life, that if she doesn't realize males and females can't just be friends, and she wants to be a "social butterfly" that is constantly setting up other options and even judging me against those other options... she's gone. I don't bother with the "jealously" or what I call 'real concern,' I just get rid of her and move on.

I've heard all the lines before that are actually just gaslighting by definition. "You're just jealous, you're just possessive, he's just a really nice guy, he's just a really good friend" as well as the ones you listed and I too was encouraged to be friends with women, which I found was a distraction method. In every single case where the woman was like that... they ended up cheating, and some more than once before I figured it out or got told.

No, there is a difference between women that just has a friend and women that have sex hungry oribters circling her at every chance they can get... and getting pissed when I'm around to fuck up their dreams. She knows it, I know it, her friend's know it, her Mom is warning me about that guy, her brother... but I get told, "You're just being ______" ... and you can fill in the blank. Yeah, we're all just wrong about it right? And everytime I accepted that... they eventually cheat.

She can either give it up for a committed relationship or go play with her 'other options' which frees me up to go play with mine. No point on wasting time with a girl that is looking to have constant adoration and unwarrented attention on her phone, social media, and even at work for reasons that are obviously attention seeking on her end and sexual desire on his end. They start out in those corners but eventually they'll both have a mix of those particular interests going on.

It's because of a little experiment I did with my wife.

All of her male friends knew she was married. My wife made a huge stink about keeping her male friends. Okay. So I compromised. I told her to call each one, and offer to have sex with each one. The ones that turned her down I was okay with her keeping. The ones that agreed she had to block. She agreed. 14 phone calls later she went from having 14 guy friends to having none because they all agreed to have sex with a married woman.
