Does real love have an age limit when it comes to dating?

Love is care.

Lust is a precursor to care in the long term journey of humanity as a species, since as primates we wouldn't care for our partners if we didn't lust after them.

And by lust, i mean emotional survival mechanisms that make us raise families. Wanting to raise a family is lust. The hooking up is just a smaller compartment of lust.

There is an age limit to when lust is acceptable.

But love, when detached from the primitive cocoon of survival instincts, that's force of god itself. Unconditional love, which has no age limits. It isn't that mysterious either.

At some point in history, parents didn't really care for their young. You know, life originated from something, and love is at the core of it. But anyhow, love has eventually developed as something some parents do to their children. In the future the same kind of love as parent-child will be learned as the basic way of relating to anyone, without conditions such as wealth playing any role.

In December, 2020, I met Ms. Helen, I was 65 years old and she was 56. We fell in love and married in April, 2024. We bought a house in August, 2025 and we are both quite happy. No, there is no age limit for wanting and needing love, no age limit for finding love, and no automatic expiration date when you are in love.

Statistically Most people end up marrying someone around their own age. Because they are much more likely to be on the same level of maturity, brain development, life stage.

Beware of the 45 year old sexual predators who want to only date 18 yr olds. There's no way someone at that advanced age can emotionally relate or bond with someone that young.

I don't know. I've seen happy couples of all ages, but you'd have to know when they met to know when they were attracted to each other. Just bc they're in their 80s and together doesn't mean they met in their 80s, you know?

Not at all , age is just a number for the most part , what matters most , is the chemistry and connection you share with someone. No one else can decide that for you. I never really hold age as a deciding factor factor when I meet a beautiful girl that has great chemistry and connection with me

If adults. there's no problem. 100 dating an 25 year old is your business.

There's a reason there are age laws. I assume it has a lot to do with younger people not having fully developed emotions/thoughts to really understand the difference between how you feel, something that can be taken advantage of.

I dont even want to get into the super young attraction thing, just know its not ok in any form or shape

I don't have an answer.
But I have an opinion on this.
Love only existed for young (20's is the best time to be in love if you are above 26 and never had a single relationship)
It's just a downward spiral, and specially if you are trying your best but no one gives you a chance.
(Also being unattractive adding much more difficultly on top of it)
After the age of 30 is just a great time to pay for sex in place of looking for love.
And anything after 40 it's just bad because you are not young anymore and useless to be hopeful.

I mean, there are some couples out there with huge age differences. Twenty or thirty or forty years or even more. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, or to most other people, but if the two people in a relationship are happy, I guess it doesn't have to make sense to anyone else.

As teens people are more idealistic. Idealism is beneficial for love. After 20 people are just pragmatic, maybe love is possible in this configuration but I didn't experience any one just the naive teen love.

No, but attraction does. And much of the time that is where love begins. And if someone is vastly out of your age group you're probably not even going to consider them. Which believe it or not is usually for the best. Love is forged through shared experiences. And a wide age difference makes that difficult.

I think it’s obvious it does..  For real love , age matters enough to keep things legal and not enough to keep two adults apart. Birth certificates measure time not compatibility. 😏
