How good are you at securing that second date?

A lot of people are able to get a first date, but based on my recent experience with a perfectly awful fellow I wondered now good folks are at getting a second date.

I am pretty good , because my intentions when dating a girl , is to continue seeing her, especially if things go good on the first date between us . so I usually initiate the second date with her unless she beats me to it. Unfortunately some girls’ I have dated were surprised that I showed up or contacted her the next day , asking to see her again , I will usually show up with flowers as well., when I ask her why she was surprised to see or hear from me again she would say because she is used to guys’ not doing so. I just think that’s his loss and that I am not that type of guy , I only ask a girl on a date that I am interested in and that I want to get to know more of , hoping she feels the same

Yeah, you're def not the average guy in 2026. Too many guys expect VIP from a woman on the first date without putting any effort into the date... then expect the girl to do the calling and chasing. It's very odd to me. I wasn't raised to have that energy with a guy.

Yea I don’t really understand this generation either , entering back into the dating world was a shock to me , I felt lost in it , to be honest , especially when I hear girls’ tell me these stories about how guys’ treated them on dates’ and sadly it makes it harder for guys’ like me to get a girl to believe me , when I tell her I am not that way whatsoever. I treat a girl the same way I like to be treated in return , with kindness and respect , , probably why my ex stayed with me for as long as she did , until she decided she wanted to be single again , when the kids’ got older. But all my exes I got into a relationships with , all came from me being respectful and kind , unless she made the first move on me 😂 but still I always considered myself to be respectful. I give a lot of credit to my grandfather that taught me how to be respectful to girls when I was growing up. My grandfather was a ladies man and a gentleman , him and my grandmother were happily married for a very long time until they passed away. He always told me to open doors for girls’ and treat her like she is the only girl in the world , and make it clear that i only have eyes for her , he said if another girl flirts with you while you are in a relationship , he said don’t be rude or disrespectful to her , just tell her you are flattered , but i’m sorry I am already in a relationship with someone else, but thank you for for noticing me , I still do that til this day , whether i am attracted to the girl or not , there is no reason to be rude. The only time i might get somewhat rude is of she doesn’t take No for answer and shockingly it seems a lot of people do not know what the word No means , which blows my mind. I am not saying I am perfect but I do consider myself respectful and kind to anyone that is respectful and kind to me. Most of the girls’ I dated loved how I am not very judgmental and that I don’t judge books by it’s cover , I am also told I am very charismatic which makes

It's not just one generation. The average guy is simply not very chivalrous anymore. I know, I know, we'll blame "feminism" (or the horror that passes for so-called "feminism" in 2026) for this, but for those of us who were good wives and now find themselves divorced from a cheater... and now back in the dating arena... it's awful. Go find the guy who will bring a girl flowers in this neck of the woods. Smh.

Yea it’s been tough for me as well with girls’ that say they want a partner that is loyal and loving to her and then all of a sudden she changes her mind and doesn’t want to be loyal back the same unless it’s her way or no way , So I agree the dating arena is tough and why I am taking the slower road. I i am not, for the life of me , want to end up with a girl that is like my ex. I need peace and happiness in my life, not misery and negativity on a regular basis basis

I have always been an open book and disclosed whatever was asked on a first date, and a few women discovered things that were dealbreakers for them, but most women agreed to a second date with me.

I was always good at it if i wanted one. The thing is, i almost never wanted one. There are 7 women in my entire life, my wife included, that made it to the second date. i have been on more than 100 first dates.. A few items that would make me outright reject, If she is on her phone constantly, If she is overly political, If she is dishonest, If she picks the most expensive things on the menu, If she's disrespectful, If she wears too much makeup, (too much meaning it looks like a mask i can peel off).. and so on. There are only 7 women from when i was 16 to when i was 29 and met my wife that actually got past the first date.
