How big is the chance they won't accept me at a job because of my earpiercing?
I want to study real estate.
I don't have an issue with piercings personally, but I do feel they should be limited to one facial piercing (stud) and one set of earrings (small) if you're a professional. If you're meeting the public in a professional capacity I think it's important to put across a good impression and lots of jewellery, that goes for normal jewellery too, doesn't look very business like.
You’d definitely be at a disadvantage if you want lto get into real estate. About 50% of the people will either make a conscious or an unconscious decision not to buy from you if a little thing puts them off.
But in the end you should do what makes you happy. So if you feel an ear piercing would make you happy, please go for it.
No, I don't. If you're scared it'll affect whether you get a job or not, you can always take the piercings out when you go to interviews or when you go to work. They won't close up once they've healed properly, so it doesn't really matter. It's no different from wearing a necklace or not wearing a necklace, when you think about it.
I have two outer conch piercings, one on each ear, that I took when I was like 15 or 16. Had earrings in them for a full year, and after that I just stopped and only put earrings in them every now and then. But now I haven't had earrings in them for years. I checked if I could put earrings in them still a few months ago, and I could. So don't worry about it. The holes aren't visible either.
I don’t have an issue with them (I do stretched though). Some piercings aren’t inappropriate depending where you work. If you are girl you can flop your hair over them.
An ear full of them isn’t a professional look but an extra one or two is no problem. You should be aware some workplaces won’t accept certain piercings.
Only if its more than 1 piercing per ear. Yet i still want an upper ear piercing but i heard it stings
And u can always remove your earring for the interview. Put it back in when u get the job
In real estate you're your own boss and can wear whatever really
Not always.
They also have real estate companies.
Or maybe I translated it wrong.
But i mean the majority of the time you're out by yourself with customers. As long as you dress somewhat formal, your jewelery shouldbt matter much
I think it does make you look less professional. The standard ear lobe piercing won't but when you get the ones going up your ear it isn't accepted as professional.
It's like getting a tattoo essentially. I mean if you want to do it's your choice but is a stylistic choice really that important to you? Do you have to stand out that much?
Is a piece of metal going to make me stand out that much?
You would clesrly be at a disadvantage in high positions. It won't necessarliy impact you if you are getting a job at a fast food chain or similar. But for teaching, nursing, daycare, stuff like that it will. But you can always remove them for interviews. Tattoos are juts a big thing to avoid.
How about real estate? How bad would it influenced me with that?
Yea shouldn't wear them in real estate. When trying to sell a home, you want to be a sterotypically as possible of what a real estate agent looks like. Yoy want the buyers to be relatable towards you because it will make them more comfortable in what you show them and what you say. Appearance has a big amount to deal with in marketing. I could talk endlessly about it but sure you don't have the time
Yeah i have the time, I'm intrested

Depending on the job, for example, I want to be flight attendant, and I know they would not accept me. But there are some works where it’s totally ok with that.
In my opinion tatts and piercings shouldn’t be a problem, it doesn’t the way you think, who you are, or the things you know
How about real estate? How bad would it influenced me with that?
In my country, would be probably the same, no trouble with that, I should know about your country. My best girl friend works on real estate and she have a few piercings on her ear and one in her nose... but Im from south america, I don’t really know how it works on other parts of the world
culturaly they're seen as unprofessional, so you would lose a lot of market amongst the more traditional/conservative employers. but being able to maintain a piercing involves a high level of hygiene, and that could be seen as a good point on the newer folk.
traditionaly tho, you would have lower chances. so... why not just use pressure piercings until you're secure on your job? other than that, you can just remove them when at work.
Ear piercings, located on the normal part of the ear; are the one piercing that can be visible that ISN’T heavily discriminated against, because everyone has then.
If you get your ears pierced you’ll be fine, and your mother is over-sheltering her. Try to make her realize this is unhealthy parenting.
Depends... If your ears are guaged-out and/or you look like a fishing lour, that probably is not the best way to present yourself for a professional carreer... But something cute/simple in the ear-lobe is not going to turn away any employer... Maybe get a matching necklace or something to accent that that was a well put together outfit.
Yeah , to some extent , life a earring with just 1 extra piercing doesn't grab a lotta attention but you gotta be careful bout what people will think bout you cuz Real Estate is a bit more of a professional job. And you don't want people to judge you on your look , and you can take em' off for the interview.
Depends on the piercing you put in, and most you can remove for an interview
I mostly go for minimalistic silver earings like in the picture
Some corporations just don't go for the piercings and the tats. There are many though that do accept who you are and the way you want your style to be. I know my buddy works at Whole Foods and they let you almost wear anything you want.
Smaller stuff can look pretty good but unfortunately yeah most people somehow think a peice of metal in your ears or face hinders you ability to work even though they don't go to your brain from what I recall.
That's not true. Maybe a nose piercings are considered less professional, but not those types of ear piercings like the ones in the picture.
Not at all, I'm a self employed electrician and the quality of work produced by myself has nothing to do with the way I look, customers & clients are sometimes a bit confused or ask about the piercings & tats but at the end of the day the job in hand is completed and to standard I could have mug tattooed across my head and still work
A small stud looks fine, or maybe even two. But when I see girls with 5-10 piercings on their ears I get grossed out.
Funny because I used to have four piercings on one year and five on the other, but then I saw this girl with piercings like outlining her entire ear and I took out every single one of my piercings that day cause I thought she looked so trashy, lol
Maybe piercings through your nose, lips and such are considered less professional.
I imagine ear piercings are quite normal among female, also in businesses
Small piercings, in your ear for instance looks nice (even a little bit sexy). But piercings in your mouth or somewhere else in your face, I wouldn't recommend it.
I feel the same.
My ears are the only place I will ever get a piercing.
But also not too much bevause I'm pretty minimalistic.
No. It's a strange thing to get hung up on.
Personally, I think combovers and polyester suits look unprofessional... But here we are lol.
No not at all, I think ear piercings are perfectly fine in any form as long as you're not gauging your earlobes lol
Just a little bit would be fine. My teacher in elementary school had piercings like that lol
Standard earrings make you look good.
Extra piercings/earrings look less refined.
Work places have specific codes about that but I just think is prejudice. Tattoos or piercings is our choice for our body. Nothing to do with work crap or character. Hitler had no tattoos... great douche
For real estate it won't be a huge deal, but she is right; anything more than a small earlobe piercing won't look professional.
A conservative industry would be less into piercings and tattoos than a more modern / young industry.
