I would rather work longer hours for less days! That way you have more time off! (Or at the very least you can trick your mind into believing you have more time off!) Most people know that my mom is a doctor, and through her, I learned that hospitals (at least used to) offer nurses a schedule called “ The Baylor plan“ where they worked 12 hours Friday night 12 hours Saturday night, and 12 hours Sunday night from 7 PM to 7 AM, but they get paid for working 40 hours instead of 36, plus they get all the full-time benefits. I would MUCH rather work 12 hours a day for three days and then get four days off, then work eight hours a day for five days and get two days off. A lot of the nurses with families would work Baylor shift because it allowed them to be at home ALL week with their kids, and only needed dad, or a babysitter to watch them Friday Saturday and Sunday night. For the kids to because as far as they’re concerned mom is always home!

I've been saying for years I'd happily work 4 days, 10 hour shifts. Imagine a three day weekend! Two day weekends go by WAY too fast! You blink and it's Monday again.
My new position might allow this option down the road (I've already discussed this with my boss), but I'm still fairly new so I don't want to be too demanding yet. Long days don't bother me; not like I have much of a life outside of work anyway. That way I could have a Friday or Monday off.
I know the popular answer is A, and I can see why, but I current teach at an academy where I am paid for eight hours and here for eight hours, but only teach (the actual work, here) for 3-4 hours a day. The rest of the time I'm just sitting here online, waiting for the class to start, or doing very basic prep work. So everyday feels like it's part-time work.
I'm literally at work right now, but my first class doesn't begin until 4pm. Yes, working longer hours for a three or four day weekend is nice, but it also means the actual work days probably suck. With my situation, it barely feels like work at all, and I love it and I'm very grateful for this position (just two months ago, I was at another job working full schedules and it kinda sucked at times).
So yes, I'd rather have every work day feel easy than getting an extra day off. Option B for me.
Definitely 'A'.
At some point, the company I formerly worked for added one hour to each work day. So the hours were 8:00-5:00 Mon-Thurs and 8:00-12:00 on Friday with one hour lunch and two 15 min breaks on Mon-Thurs.
I sure as hell didn't notice the extra hour a day. I would have gladly worked 10 hours a day 4 days a week.
I think, because it was an auto insurance company, they did felt that they had to be available to customers on weekdays, so they couldn't close entirely on Fridays.
It was great because there are things you can do on a weekday that you can't do on weekends because some businesses and government offices aren't open on weekends.
On the federal holidays that fall on Mondays, I would use five hours of vacation time to take Friday off and get a four day weekend.

My preferred schedule is four or five 16 hour days, totaling 64-70 hours in the week.
I would also be okay with working three days as long as it was at least 12 hours each day.
40 hours of base pay
15 hours of time and a half = 22.5 hours of regular time
15 hours of double pay = 30 hours of regular time
70 hours = 92.5 hours of pay, and I still get two full days off!
I hate 8 hour days, they feel like a waste of my day. Three 16 hour days would be great, that's four days off, with 48 hours of work, equal to 56 hours of base pay. But unfortunately my work doesn't count overtime as part of my required 40 hours/week to get benefits.I've done both, and without I doubt, I would rather work longer hours, and less days. Absolutely no question about it. The different between a 7/8-hour day to a 9/10 hour day isn't too much, and the reward of having at least one (maybe even two) extra days off pays off in the end.
I did the longer hours for fewer days back in my mid-twenties. Back then I didn't need as much sleep and I was real energetic. I could still do things after hours on my working days. But later on I settled for a 5 day week because it was too hard to get in exercise, and all the other stuff, on working days.
Dang I don't know. Right now i work like 5-6 days a week, 10-12 hour shifts. Ideally i’d work 4 days, 40 hours a week
I would sooner work 10 - 12 hrs a day 4 days a week. As it is now I'm working 12 - 14 hr days 6 days a week. This past week I even put hrs in on Sunday.
At my old job I worked 10 hour shifts, but only 4 days a week. I kind of liked having 3 days off, but it was also exhausting, and I felt like my routine was only work and sleep, especially when they gave me a 9 to 7. But when I worked the midday or afternoon shift, it wasn't bad, because I still had the first half of the day to myself.
If I could just work four 10 hour days and by with my lady for the other 3 that would be ideal. Let's make laws for this damn it!
Four ten hour shifts would be cool & I would only go for the deal if all the days off were together & none of this split days off shit.
Longer hours, less days ofc 😁
Because whem you go to work, it's work, you woke and did everything so i don't care for how much hours it's going to be as long as i can get a long weekend to be a couch potato 🤣🤣Id rather work long hours but home at a decent hour. I wanna work a 7-3:30 or 7:30-4. If I had to work 10-12 hour days for more time off I'd do that too
Longer hours less days, my last job was a rotating cycle 10, 12, 12 + 12, 12, 10 hours over weekends gave me lots of down time during the rest of the week.
I worked a 4 day work week for years, very much liked it.
Now back to 5 day week, oh well it was good while it lasted.I'd pack 40 hours into a 3 day work week if I could
As long as it's not *too* brain-numbing, then longer hours for fewer days.
Personally though, I work eight hours a day, six days a week - but I only work for half the year, and spend the rest of the year travelling etc.Good question after some soul searching longer days with more days off
I work four tens now. Three days off. I like it because 10 doesn't really seem longer than 8. Work to live, not live to work.
A- longer hours /less days. A neighbor works a 3 x 13 as a county cop. A fiend of ours works a 4 x 10 as a printer.
I'm planning my business around my life. I refuse to work long hours doing something that makes me miserable so I can spend two weeks a year with my family.
My family comes first. If I had a choice I'd work longer hours for less work days.
I just work longer hours and more days for the same pay.4 10s is the best, I can’t figure out why it’s so uncommon
