Just ask her what her reason is for not wanting you to work at McDonald's. Maybe she would like you to wait until your 16 years old. Your a good daughter for wanting to help your mom out.
McDonald's isn't the greatest place to work. But I don't see how it's much different than Chick-fil-A. It might be a bit better. She probably thinks you can do better.
I think you could work at either McDonald's or Six Flags and do a really good job. You're a smart young lady. I think your mom is just reluctant to let you go to work because you're her baby and she still wants to protect you.
An in house job would be better for you like babysitting, pet caring etc or whatever the job you plan to have in the future, you can work in a place related to it.
Shit happenes everywhere. I worked as a lifeguard and was subpeonaed to testify in a sexual abuse case when I was 16.. Shit happens in the real wold, the faster you learn how to deal with it the better.
@Subarugirl your parents could have got you out of that no child of mine whose a minor will be participating in any violent or sex crimes cases, they don't need to live life looking over their shoulder
@Fuentes you don’t just get to not honor a subpoena hun. I was literally summoned by the court to testify infront of a closed jury. You can’t just decline.
@Subarugirl yes you can i grew up in the hood as a minor we see shit lol my mom got my sisters out of some shit after some dude ran from the police in our backyard and tossed his murder weapon in the bush. Maybe how you grew up in your area you're naive on the law as a minor , they're WAYS out of everything and my sisters did not have to go or say anything because my mom stopped it.
@Subarugirl he's a creep yup lol but if their was other bystanders like other adults it should have been on them and not you. Criminals & sickos don't always get hard time and as a bystander it can sometimes be dangerous reporting their crimes as a minor since they see you in court and create grudges is all and i would hate for my children to have to face that or worry about that
I believe both places have programs that help people get through school after working there. Some scholarships or grant programs. Which to her, will be highly beneficial when you start college.
She probably want yoy to have better job. She may think Mcdonald is dirt law job. Or sometimes it's better to pay attention on study only. Obviously you can't so I wish she allows you to help her. Try speaking with her please.
How is working at McDonald’s not respectable? That just seems like a classist issue, I know McDonald’s is a bad company that pays poverty wages with no benefits but that’s just the company not the workers. There are other countries where McDonald workers are paid livable fair wages so this problems exclusive to the US
Guess she is against the idea of you working and making money. She fails to do at her age what you're willing to do at your age and i admire that. You remind me of myself. keep strong.
It isn’t that she’s failing to make money, it’s because she’s a teacher and teachers are just really underpaid for the work they do. Especially during covid where housing costs more, we basically ran out of all our savings during the pandemic due to her being laid off her old school but now she’s trying her best again do I want to help In any way I can
She was going to law school but changed because she got pregnant with me and wanted to be a teacher for the health insurance + holidays off to spend time with me. Teachers need to be paid more tbh, public schools are really underpaid
Public schools are a failure from design. Public schools are for people, who will make low money. Public school isn't meant for teachers or their students to achieve a middle class lifestyle. Forget about it. Any parent, that very much loves their child and it's future success would send their kids to a private school.
Well the average person can’t afford private school. And the issue is much deeper, the government has been taking much needed funding from schools for years.
But at least you realize the biggest indicator for someone’s wealth is how much wealth they were born into unfortunately
I mean objectively speaking it does make sense, doesn't it? It is up to us to rise up from the ground up. I wasn't born into wealth either (in fact I was born dirt poor and went to public school too but I funded my private institute tuition costs and expenses for the most part myself). How? By hustling and busting my ass. Like you plan to work for McDonalds under hellish conditions and inhuman low pay, dedication (and perhaps a 2. nd job or more than 40 hours of work time) is required to get there eventually. It almost means marrying jobs, going to bed with unfinished work, waking up with work projects in your mind etcetera.
Nobody said it's easy. Seeing the path is easy. Walking it is something else. I aim to continue studying in a private university and fund the tuition myself (if I don't get any grants or scholarships based on whatever conditions Germany might have). Most wealthy people weren't born into wealth either.
About one-third of Americans believe that they will most likely become a millionaire in their lifetime, only 8.8% of the US population are millionaires out of (329 million) of the adult population, billionaires make up only 3.5% these numbers are extremely low.
Not to mention, the vast majority of these people are rich from wage theft and exploiting workers. That’s why as the average American is struggling to make ends meet, wealthy mega corporations are doing just fine if not amazing during the pandemic.
It’s a sad reality, and It’s one my generation are going to be forced to deal with.
That’s not true it’s the only place hiring people your age where the labor won’t be too tough but if that’s not for you try a non fast food restaurant or retail

r u sure u wanna work there? i mean if u dont mind that enviroment then go for it, just saying most people dont like it
I do so I can build work experience for my resume. I also want to get out of the house, I’ve been stuck at home basically 24/7 cause of the pandemic.
Just ask her what her reason is for not wanting you to work at McDonald's. Maybe she would like you to wait until your 16 years old. Your a good daughter for wanting to help your mom out.

She might feel embarrassed that you work at McDonald's, often people will use doing so as a way to put someone down.
I’m not sure. They’re both fast food restaurants. I didn’t work as a teen so I don’t have much advice to offer here.
An in house job would be better for you like babysitting, pet caring etc or whatever the job you plan to have in the future, you can work in a place related to it.
My last girlfriend literally found a guy dying from a drug overdose in a taco bell while she was working..
More shit happens at these places than you'd expect. Are you prepared for that?
Shit happenes everywhere. I worked as a lifeguard and was subpeonaed to testify in a sexual abuse case when I was 16.. Shit happens in the real wold, the faster you learn how to deal with it the better.
@Subarugirl your parents could have got you out of that no child of mine whose a minor will be participating in any violent or sex crimes cases, they don't need to live life looking over their shoulder
@Fuentes Agreed, that shit is a bit too much.
It's rare to be a woman who makes it to age 16 literally unmolested, may as well leave them as pure as possible.
You guys wouldn't believe the amount of women I meet who have been molested, especially less well off neighborhoods.
@Fuentes you don’t just get to not honor a subpoena hun. I was literally summoned by the court to testify infront of a closed jury. You can’t just decline.
Most people are molested at some point and more often than not is someone the family know well or a family member.
@Subarugirl yes you can i grew up in the hood as a minor we see shit lol my mom got my sisters out of some shit after some dude ran from the police in our backyard and tossed his murder weapon in the bush. @Fuentes well my parents didn’t and I had to go and testify about what heard as a child because a man I worked with was sleeping with minors.

@Fuentes he didn’t it was a closed testimony
I believe both places have programs that help people get through school after working there. Some scholarships or grant programs. Which to her, will be highly beneficial when you start college.
So, work at McDonald's until you're 16 then apply to work at Chick-a-fil.
She probably want yoy to have better job. She may think Mcdonald is dirt law job. Or sometimes it's better to pay attention on study only. Obviously you can't so I wish she allows you to help her. Try speaking with her please.
Because she wants you to have a more respectable job.

Because most parents want you to have a white-collar job. I remember when I wanted to be an air hostess and my parents told me it's a degrading job.
Guess she is against the idea of you working and making money. She fails to do at her age what you're willing to do at your age and i admire that. You remind me of myself.

That's why nobody should pursue teacher as a career. It's asking to be almost as poor as a beggar.
She was going to law school but changed because she got pregnant with me and wanted to be a teacher for the health insurance + holidays off to spend time with me. Teachers need to be paid more tbh, public schools are really underpaid

That’s a myth, most wealthy people were born into wealth.

Fair enough. You provided sources.
However If you're into audiobooks, you might want to give this a listen. I have.

Because Mc Donald's Ice cream machine is broken.. 🤔Probably why?
My brother used to work at McDonald’s. It’s not worth it. Wait till you’re older to work at Chick-Fil-A
That’s not true it’s the only place hiring people your age where the labor won’t be too tough but if that’s not for you try a non fast food restaurant or retail

Both are trashy and stupid jobs. Stay away from fast food jobs
I commend you for wanting to work but you really don’t want to work for McDonald’s
I think your mother thinks she is somehow protecting you.
I admire you desire to work, That is a good thing.
