I have been working at my job for 10 months now... boss offered to take me over from temp agency and offered me a year contract... everyone is saying dont take it he is being disrespectful... why?

I think honestly if he offered to prolong your contract for one year he probably is satisfied of your hard work, I think it’s a very good opportunity. But I suggest you to watch the amount he pays you: if it’s low, you may ask for something more…

Some employer use agencies because it's easier to fire bad staff. Once they're happy with you they'll drop the contract and take you on properly. I'd ignore people and take the offer.
