Why do people keep saying this to me?

I’m a newly English major and I’m a senior. After college I’m gonna pursue something in the journalism industry. I’ve been telling people that I would like to do broadcast later in my career and almost everyone I’ve told that to, has said that they can see me doing it. Even people I’ve met who have literally worked for news stations.
One of my guy coworkers said I have the “tv look” I do wear nice makeup and am very well put together and have been told times in the past that I’m pretty but not really often recently. My dads even said he wants me to be a sports journalist so I can be the “eye Candy”
I always wondered what these people meant when they’ve said they could see me doing broadcast news

I think it has to do with gender stereotypes in the broadcast industry. My knowledge specifically stems from sports where there are usually 2 male hosts and 1 female host whose job is usually to be the middleman and move the programming along. Basically paid to look good and make sure the show ends when it's supposed to. Also that comment from your dad is kinda gross. Would be be okay if you actually did become "eye candy" on a sports show and his friends started sexualizing you? I genuinely wanna know what his answer is.

Is there any reason you could think of that they wouldn't have just meant... that? They clearly think you are a physically attractive person and that you have a decent voice. I'm not sure how what else that could mean.
