Do you put your all into your work, or do you hold something back for yourself, your family and your friends?

I have a feeling i know how this will pan out, but maybe i’m wrong. How much of your life do you put into your work? Are you too tired to do anything when you get off work? Do you turn down invitations to events because you just don’t have the energy or inclination? Or do you save yourself for the people who matter most?

I put everything into my work. I have nothing left at the end of the work day. That’s what weekends are for!

I work to live. I don’t live to work. I always save some of my energy for myself, my family and my friends.

I used to but I learned pretty fast thanks to an older gentleman who basically informed me of how the working world works. Basically the more you do the more your bosses will give you to do and If you fall behind they will mark it against you. At one stage I was being overloaded with the work of 3 men and they complained that I was behind on targets and bonuses and pay raises were not got. Now I do exactly what I'm employed to do, I honestly have most of my work finished before 1pm and I don't take work home with me, I meet all targets and deadlines and have been promoted, gotten pay raises and get my bonuses every year.

I don't know that I like the choices. There's actually a "both" for me. No, I'm not saying I'm perfect or I've got it all figured out. But I give a lot to my work. It's not at the expense of my family, friends, life, etc. But work gets me kicking ass doing my job. But I also kick ass taking care of my family and spending time with them.

I enjoy my profession pretty much, and perform to the best of my conscience.

But some of my interest and talents are simply ''not for sale''.
