Who needs help with getting their amateur radio license?

I can help you pass all the test and I used to be a credited VE (Volunteer Examiner) and I am I hold Amateur Extra Class license.

No longer required in the USA, but if you travel outside of USA, other counties require you to pass a Morse code test to use ham radio in their country.

a. The operator must pass an examination that demonstrates their capability to send and copy at 5, 7, 10 or 12 words per minute. NOTE: Check with the country you are planning to operate in for their requirements if the exam is for going overseas. Most require a person be able to send and copy 10 or 12 words per minute. b. The candidate must correctly send, by hand, a plain-language text proine

I still have the book for Extra class from Gordon West, it’s the only class I have to get since I have the old Advanced license, I did pass 5 and 13 words per minute way back for Novice and General but I barely remember it now. I doubt I would ever use my license in another country since I would probably just be enjoying my vacation and exploring the sites. Maybe I’ll pursue the Extra class one eventually

Wait a minute- when I was in Cub Scouts, they told us that Morse code puts one second between letters, and three seconds between words. That means sixty seconds of delays alone, even with with twelve three-letter words. Since you also have to send the beeps themselves, wouldn't that mean passing the test requires being some sort of temporal wizard?

What’s the repercussion/ consequence if a ham radio is used in another country, without a Morse code, test-passing certification?

Is the certification to ensure they know how to properly perform and interpret Morse code?

Each country is different, but in most cases if you can't pass the test, You won't be granted visitor ham license ( it's kinda like having a visa

I don't recall, possibly 1st class, maybe 3rd. All I had to do is send away for it. They sent me a sheet of yellow card stock, had me sign it and send it back, they sent back the top third with a rubber stamp on it and that's my license! That was back in the late `70's. It's sat on a record shelf for decades collecting dust ever since! I know too much about records and music for anyone to ever hire me for a radio station or record store job. From what I can tell, they only want idiots that only want the job `til something better comes along.
