Can a job make you keep your phone in a locker?

just a pic i found online for this question.

when i used to work for the sporting good store Modell's before they closed for good.

they would tell the workers to put their phones in their lockers for their shift.

towards the end i would keep my phone in my pocket.

When you have a job, they own you until your shift is over each day. You are in THEIR time, not yours. They have every right to have you lock your phone up during your shift. Hey, he's stopping you from getting fired for being on your phone and not working. I know that is a new concept for young people, get used to it. Employer's make the rules, not the employee.

Yep. Grade schools here had a similar rule otherwise they could keep your phone for a month if you were caught with it. Parents had to sign agreeing to it when filling out the students registration forms

i remember that in high & middle school

was the job that made me do it but i didn't listen to them lol

They want you to do your job and not be distracted.. I know it sucks.. unless you have a legitimate reason where you need to keep it on you like for emergencies or be on call they might say it’s ok give you accommodations..
