Has anyone experienced this during early days of a new job?

So I applied for a job, the interview over the phone and in person was 5 minutes she told me she will call in a couple days and then when she called she told me to come in so i assumed I got the job. I go in on the day she asked me and she never asked me about my bank stuff for paying me she only asked me for my references. Near the end of the shift she showed me a sheet of paper talking about pay checks and saying "if i get hired".. then goes on to explaining what to do if i get hired. So am I on a trial run or something?

The person you are dealing with has poor communication if it was unclear if you had the job or not. Of course that goes both ways and your communication could have been better as well to clarify what you thought and being proactive with questions like "when do I get paid for today?" or "Don't you need my tax id information?" or even "Is this a trial run?".

Don't be afraid to ask employers for information. They are not superior to you; you are there to exchange your time and services for their money. It sounds like you gave them services and time but got nothing in return other than being led on.

I don;t know what kind of job this is but I have never experienced such a casual process whenever I was hired for a new job. I don;t know if you have been formally hired. Usually you get an offer letter that you can either except or reject. The fact that they asked for references means they are almost sure they want to hire you. They are just making sure you are who you say you are.

That's illegal. If you are working and reasonably believe you are hired, you are entitled to pay. Go to an employment lawyer

Yeah, sounds like you are on a trial, they should be very clear - you can can ask what you need to accomplish to complete the trial and how long it will last. if they are vague they are just using you as free labor and you should walk away asap.
